Looks nice. It'll definitely look good installed. Any details on how it went? Cutting the opening pretty easy? How's the wire route look from the fuse panel?

Cutting was eazy I used a dremel and went really slow, the wires were routed back and to the right and came out under the glove box.

That is one very nice install!!!

How hard was the wiring and where did you mount/put the actual unit?

Written instructions would be helpful. Thanks.

Richwm - is the detector able to still pick up radar from the rear when mounted that high?
... hmmm, guess that the only way to know is if a cop guns you from behind.

Yes it works great up that high you get better range in the front and you dont loose much if any from behind the laser might be afftected but I dont care. The bigist thing is I don't have to take it down when I go through the gate at work.

After looking through your DIY I went out to see how it would go in my car. Looks like it might even be a bit easier since I have IDrive. The bottom panel isn't connected to the climate control panel so there is a blank panel I can cut. You can see on the pics I posted earlier. Might have to give this mod a try.

Forgive the stupid question... but why bother? Why not use the display on the unit? You have to have it up to detect anyway..?

very true, that's why i've shyed away from all laser detectors, they're nice but i'd rather use my eyes on the highway, plus a lot of cops here don't have their radar on

What will the dealership say about your warranty? Becuase I completly destroyed the warranty on my last car and I need it on this car lol.

BTW, I have the Beltronics Vector LR Remote, and am trying to think of a good place to install it.

If you have a cop behind or beside you they will see the LEDS from the main unit but with the concealment display mounted low they cant see it and also the mute button is right by the shifter instead of near the roof.

Why would it effect my warranty? Oh and BTW Ive been to the dealer twice and no issues but my last SA liked the way it looked and asked how hard it was to do.

V1 in 335i

I installed the V1 with hardwiring and remote unit.

Follow the link http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41454

I have the remote on the lower dash and see it through the steering wheel. Liking it there after having it on top of the steering column in my 330xi.

Does the sedan not have the buttons at the bottom of the dash like the coupe does? I like that location but I've got seat heat/HDC buttons there.
