Leave the calipers on.
1. Get caliper spray paint and brake cleaner from automotive store 2. Masking tape and old newspaper for masking, old rags for cleanup 3. Jack one wheel up at a time or you could do all at the same time 4. Lay old paper on the ground under the rotor and caliper 5. Spray on the brake cleaner and get all the loose dirt off maybe use a brush if your is real dirty 6. Mask off areas around caliper and back of it to lessen over spray 7. Spray on light coats (4-6 coats) about 10mins a part 8. Remove tape and newspaper 9. Clean off any over spray with rag and brake cleaner 10. Put wheel back on a tourqe to specs. 11. Lower jack and enjoy the nice clean caliper now.

Its 100 times easier if you buy the liquid paint Vs the spray on paint.
THis way you dont have to tape anything off, you just clean the caliper, then brush on the paint. you can get away with one coat as well. |

I prefer G2 caliper paint for a few dollars more, but I agree that the paint-on kit is much better then the spray can. I have done them both ways.

I picked up the paint kit from tirerack. Same kit I used 10 yrs ago on my other car. Paint is still on those calipers so I figured its gotta be good stuff.
Hand painting is much easier and detailed than the spray. No need to mask things off or worry about getting overspray. Easiest way to do it is jack up the car completely and take off all the wheels at one time. Then start at one corner and work your way around. By the time youre done with all four the paint has dried and you can start on your second coat going around the same way.

True, but two coats dont hurt either. And the color gets a bit deeper and more solid looking. Plus, theres so much left in the can and your wheels are already off, seems like a waste not to use it.

I recommend G2 Caliper Paint. I used G2 paint on my previous car and after 5 years and 45000 miles; the calipers looked the same as the day I painted them. The kit cost about $36.00 and comes with a cleaner solvent, a brush, paint and a mixing agent to mix into paint. You must use the paint in 5 hours or else it will start to cure in the can.

why didnt you take the caliper off , remove the brake block and squeel spring?
if the paint cures so hard, how easy is it going to be to take the spring off without peeling the paint off? |
