N54 CAMS?!
Why hasn't anybody released any cams for the N54?
Is there a reason? Too expensive? Too hard to install making it not worth it? Somebody/ANYbody drop some knowledge on me please! Thanks

I am assumng with the VANO's system, building cams to increase performance would be very difficult.
OEM cams are well over 1000 bucks EACH FYI. |

cams are great but the price of R&D is ridiculous and as stated above with the VANO's system its tough. Any of those Variable timing ones like VVTi, VTEC, VANO's etc.

Because there's absolutely NO reason to. There isn't even an upgraded set of turbos that one can buy that could even begin to utilize the extra flow the cams would provide. The stock turbos can be easily max'ed on the stock cams.

I think the cost would be way too much to manufacture these cams.
I would imagine almost $2000 for a set of cams

Before I went FI with my E36 M, cams were a good way to squeeze a little extra power out of the NA motor. Shit, once you upgraded cams, you could sell your stockers to the M52 guys for a few hundred, meaning it didn't end up costing too much in the long run....

...and the E36/E46 M3s have VANOS too. it's all a matter of time before the 335 gets cams and the sooner a tuner can come out with them the sooner they can take over the market.

Meth, Front Mount IC's, bigger turbos, DP's..... I will assume the VANOS system in the N54 is more advanced than the E36 and possibly even the E46.... |

Most tunes on the market only take into account the stuff thats widely available on the market (intakes, ic, dp, exhaust) what are u going to do compensate for meth and a new intake manifold? if u plan to custom tune on a dyno we'd all love to know what numbers u make.

& yes, we're doing a custom tune to compensate for the intake manifold, once we dial in the tune in we're considering selling the intake manifold & tune as a package deal..still trying to work out all the details on this. & i will definitely post dyno results asap! i'm going out of town this weekend so it probably won't be until next weekend.

i know the VANOS in the 335s is probably more sophisticated than the e36 (mostly because it's probably for both exhaust and intake side), but i'd be surprised if it's not similar to the e46 M3. i think you'll see cams for the E9X M3 soon enough and i'm sure its VANOS is pretty sophisticated.
