Remembering Dec 7

For those who forgot or somehow slept thru this part in history class, Dec 7 is also the day to remember Pearl Harbor. It's been all over the news here of course but sad to see the survivors and hear the stories again.

I recently visited Pearl Harbor and couldn't help but mourn the tragic incident. Thank you for reminding us.

I have been there twice and its very emotional everytime. I had the unpleasant experience of going to a funeral for our CSM's husband that died while at a camp ground here on the island. CSM for those not in the military is one of the highest enlisted ranks you can achieve. His son went too far in the water and the dad went to save him and didn't know how to swim. It was a sad day and week for everyone. The body flew to the mainland so that relatives could see him and then finally back here where we laid him to rest at Schofield Barrack (Army Post). Once the bugler started playing Taps, I almost lost it. I have never been to a funeral before and it made me so sad that this happen to him when life was good! You never know when it is your time so treasure it everyday! In case you have never heard of TAPS http://www.tapsbugler.com/TapsPDFandsound.html May he rest in Peace!

A truely sad story. I am sorry you had to visit Pearl Harbor for that reason.

TAPS is a very powerful song that sets a tone of both honor and sadness. He obviously was a good man and may he rest in peace.
