Performance Power Kit Pricing Announced
BMW Performance Power Kit
Aftersales is pleased to announce the launch of the much anticipated BMW Performance Power Kit for the 135i and 335i models. With sporty performance, outstanding driving dynamics and innovative technology, the BMW Performance Power Kit maintains all of BMW’s key attributes but allows our customers to put a personal touch on their BMW. The effects of the modifications to the engine tuning parameters include: •Increased torque of 317ft-lbs (manual transmission) or 332ft-lbs (automatic transmission) available from just 1,500 rpm. •Increased power output of 20 horsepower from 300 to 320hp •Faster acceleration from 0 to 60m/hour (0.2seconds quicker than the standard model) and from 50 to 75m/hour (0.5seconds quicker than the standard model). Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, meanwhile remain the same as for the standard model. To deal with the extra heat generated as a result of the engine modifications, an additional radiator, air intakes and a more powerful fan for the main radiator are incorporated into each kit. Note: The performance modifications of the BMW Performance Power Kit in no way void the vehicle warranty. Additionally quality standards are not compromised in any way. At this time there will be no center installation of the Power Kits until further notification. The Power Kits will be available for the pre E9x LCI models at that time as well. Cost of Power Kit with Exhaust: E90 ZMP Dealer cost of Power Kit MSRP $1,795 Dealer cost of Air Duct Kit MSRP $ 195 Dealer cost of Exhaust E90 MSRP $2,327 Installation at Port (6 hours @$85) Labor $ 510 Total $4,827 E92 ZMP Dealer cost of Power Kit MSRP $1,795 Dealer cost of Air Duct Kit MSRP $ 195 Dealer cost of Exhaust E92 MSRP $1,862 Installation at Port (6 hours @$85) Labor $ 510 Total $4,362

Seems so. The cost of the BMW Perf Exhausts are ridiculous. Tischer had it for $18XX for the sedan and cheaper for the coupe. Last edited by Joeb427; 09-02-2009 at 05:03 PM.. |

From what I'm reading, if you do ED, the kit won't be installed until it reaches port in the US? I wish they would just install everything at the factory.
I doubt the exhaust is mandatory, and the install labor cost will also go down if it's not purchased. |

cstavaru had the kit installed and dynoed and got 23 HP at the wheels which is pretty good. Take the exhaust number $$ off.The exhaust is almost as much as the Perf kit(on the sedan, anyway) and just gives you sound. BTW,the Perf kit adds extra cooling too. |

Not mandatory, this specific dealer is trying to package the whole shabang as a very expensive power package. If anyone goes for the package most likely they are going to leave the exhaust out.

Maybe it is worth it to have the Power Kit installed at the port because the mechanics from there have skills doing so many installs. But the Performance Exhaust you can get it from Tischer for $500 less and install it at the cheapest shop, its very easy to install.

Bottom line is 20hp for 2 G's, wow is right. I gotta say I spent 2k (thats Canadian funny money so probably much less in USD) on the Dinan engine mods and they are mind altering. Not dyno'd yet but the power is absolutely ridiculous and amazing, between Dinan spec's and my experience I'm guessing around 80hp. Dealers here stand by it......thats where I'd spend the extra cash if its burning a hole in your pocket.....

For under 2K, you have several options:
Intake: DCI, CAI or drop-in filter + scoops Tune: JB3, Procede or GIAC stage 1 Intercooler: plenty of choices here |

Not if it threw codes...then you need a scan tool. If the HPFP dies while you're away from your scanner/laptop, then what? I just don't to dick around with all that.

There was a thread in the performance section that BMW has or will have software to detect if a tune was used even if the scan tool ws used.

And then to touch on MuchMoore's point.. So you'd rather pay 2k for 20hp's instead of paying for a JB3(579$) + a BT scan tool(287$) + one of those mini notebooks to keep in your car (300$), which totals 1166$? Saving you almost a grand and giving you an extra 60-70HP over this power kit and the capability to clear your codes before you go into the dealership. |
