Do you regret going automatic?
Im about to put money down on a 07 coupe with the automatic and paddle shifters,i really wanted auto because this car will be my daily driver and driven in traffic daily. Iv always found driving standard and drinking coffee or whatever a pain in the butt, are you happy with your auto? i know the autos are faster but with the paddles do you have fun and enjoy the car? also do you drive mostly using the paddles or never use them at all?

Aside from the fact that I didn't have a choice, not one bit.

After almost 13 years of 5+ cars with a manual transmission, I decided to buy an automatic. Till this day, I have not once regreted buying an auto. I love it as much as a fat kid loves cake. Besides, my left foot was getting tired of holding in the clutch all the time sitting in traffic. DS mode in auto is my favorite new gear to be in.

I got Auto. I barely use the paddles, someone did a test and stated that it shifted slower. As for traffic we have bluetooth so I never have to mess around with my phone while I drive. I wish I had a 6 speed so I can mess around more.

If its your DD and you live with tons of traffic, then its a no brainer! Auto would make your life much easier. As much as I love the fun of a manual, I live in LA where traffic is everywhere and getting an automatic has saved me headaches. Also its still fun with the paddle shifters and DS mode, though still not as engaging as a manual. Besides if I ever wanted manual I got a 911 RS America for those fun weekend runs. Though a couple of times I did have to sit in traffic on the 405 freeway in LA in the 911, and every time since the clutch was so damn heavy my left foot went numb. However, DCT is my new favorite transmission, sorry 6MT fans.

First auto after 13 years of stick in traffic NO regrets. The paddles to me are basically for looks, removing the clutch is basically cutting off your balls. I tried the DS/paddle mode and i said to myself "are you fing serious?" this is nothing remotely close to a manual 5-6 speed.

"Why take a chance. At least, that's how I feel about it."
Daily Driver + Traffic + Metro = Auto
All other combinations = MT Best of both worlds in most but not all conditions = DCT

Never I'm to lazy for all that crap. Auto works fine with the paddle shifters . Once inwhile I use the shifters . BUT def be prepared for all the player haters out there when they talk shit about AUTO . Just be like " If hating is your occupation , I probably have a full time job for you. "

ok so sounds like i made the right decision then, i was leary about having a 6spd as a daily driver and figured the steptronic with the paddles would suffice when i want to play. when i do feel like rowing 6 gears though i can always pull the supercharged zo6 out of the garage
