Snow at last in Toronto - how are the 335i's?
Finally, a decent amount of snow. Typically, the roads are in an awful state. Had no problem driving (xi and winters) but most of the time it was at a 5mph crawl on the DVP, so not exactly challenging. The side streets were fun though. How are the 335i's? I'm NOT gloating! I would really like to know how the 335i (hopefully with winter tires) handles in 2-12 inches of compacted snow. Are you guys garaging until the roads are cleared up or are you having a ball?
As an aside, this weather truly brings out the worst in drivers. People drive at a complete crawl, they fishtail, fail to leave enough stopping space, etc., etc. Roll on Summer..... |

So far has been pretty good with snows on. I live NE of T.O. and been finding that between the winters, electronics and just plain driving sense the 335 has done well. Now if you live in Halton or Niagara that's a different story.

Ya, no problem here. Obviously the rear can be a little squirly if you're impatient. No problem keeping up with or leading other cars from a stoplight.
That's on 4-yr old Pirelli SnowSports, which will be retired after this season.

i live in calgary and we have been getting a bunch of snow with -20 to -30 temps which is causing icy roads, but not nearly as much snow as the east, and the car is completly driveable, but impatience will cause the backend to go out on ice, even with snow tires, just take it slow.

I don't think anyone could be expected to drive in the 4 ft of drifting snow parts of the province have gotten. I just hope there are no RWDs (or AWDs) out their still wearing summers.....

Yes, I have to say you BC guys have had a bloody awful winter with the storms and winds. Far more than your fair share. This is the first real snow we've had. There were some petty showerings of a few cm previously, but this one was for real (and TO got off lightly). Unfortunately, it also revealed how freaking pathetic 99% of Toronto drivers are.
This morning it's -20C with a crystal blue sky and crispy snow. Utterly beautiful (esp. with seat warmers). |

I completely agree about Toronto drivers; it's amazing that the city usually gets 50% less snow, but the people here are 100% worse at driving in it. Me and another guy had to help a girl at the grocery store last night, she was stuck in a ~4" bank (if you can call it a bank), crying... heh. Me? I'm having a great time! |

I dont understand why some people want to drive fast in the snow , They dont really understand the snow condition. I hate that when they are behind my car and push me to drive fast .

My $0.02 on the 335 in the snow question is...... So far so good.
My E90 with Dunlop 3D Snows was pretty good. Went out to a few big hills in Toronto that I knew would be snow covered and was able to get up all but one of them. Half way up the last one I started sliding down backwards and sideways. Not much fun. I got out and saw that it was 90% ice so I wasn't too upset with the failure. I ended up sliding into a massive snow bank that the plow had left at the end of the hill. I was only going about .5 km/h when I hit it but had snow jammed up all over the under bosy of the car. But in pure snow and slush the car is quite good. I went in one of my sales reps 325 sedans with snows and the lower power makes life a little easier than in the 335. Traction control fully off is a must as there is just too much interference from the brakes and engine mgmt computers. |

Holy cow! You went out and tested your car on steep hills???? With traction control fully off??? Next time take a friend and a video camera. This would be fun to watch from the bottom
I've yet to find a hill I couldn't get up/down in my xi but I'm not trying as hard as you! |
