But now let us get back to topic of sound. Honda NSV-010 sounds very nice, it could maybe sound even better, but now IMHO Lexus is Number 1. The Honda is not yet out, but when it will be, it will smoke all Porsches and sound surely better. |

Honda already said they weren't releasing the hsv as a production car. So Honda still hasn't released a production car with a v8, to my knowlege.
The Lexus LF-A engine was codeveloped by toyota and yamaha. Yamaha had experience developing f1 engines in the 80s ans 90s |

Nsx could never compare?? Do you realize the nsx was designed and released in 1992? And it still competes! Also, Honda has a strong presence in ALMS under the Acura name. Perhaps you've seen their winning LMP1 class car? Or maybe it's that 9/10 cars in Indy have Honda engines.... Then again, Honda and acura have a far quieter line of pedestrian cars than Porsche, perhaps that's where your view comes from. It's a shame Honda tends to leave it's technological masterpieces on the track, and only push out watered down versions of what they are capable of to the general public. In that I can say, Porsche builds more entertaining everyday cars. /rant (for real ha)

In the world of Motorsport F1 is the epitome and Porsche never even made it into F1. In everything else they run in, other company have at one time or another done better. GT1 (Mercedes, Mclaren, Toyota, Mazda) LMP1 (Acura, Audi) GT2 (Corvette, Ferrari) GT300 (Shiden, Garaiya ASL, RX7, Ferrari, Lambo) GT500 (NSX,SC430,R35) Make sense if you think Honda is nothing since they only came out to prove themselves once, but their racing program and engine making history is arguably one of the best in the world. I know, engine preference is sometimes very much a personal preference thing, but I think Ferrari/Honda engines win my heart more than any Porsche can ever do. Its just not the same, the Porsche are very good, but they aren't the be all and end all marque period. As for racing heritages, other company could win, but none do so as consistently as Porsche, but that doesn't mean they can't. They all at one time or another move on after winning... Porsche does have its strong point as a company overall though, they tend to focus and perfect on one thing no matter the time it takes. They perfected the RR platform despite being an inherent flawed platform and in racing they keep going at it year after year, and that is dedication I can respect.

the 964, which ended production in 1993. the 993 was produced from 93-98, and the 996 was produced from 98-05.

actually according to that link, the 964 is pretty well matched to the NSX. 0-60mph time is mid 5-sec. for both cars, 1/4 mile is mid 13's for both cars, etc. but trying to compare cars on paper or on Wiki is a joke anyways. its is when the NSX is in transition that its performance shines in comparison to the 964. any car can accelerate fast, decelerate fast, hold high lateral G's, etc. but such a car might not transition from hard acceleration to hard braking very well, or from a left turn to a right turn (and possibly back again) all that well. but Porsche improved on those performance aspects with the 993, and eclipsed that of the NSX when the 996 debuted.
