I did it with NON-iDRIVE.
I still cannot figure out how to enter code to unlock all the menu options, but besides that I did it on non-iDrive car. Let me know if you need more precise instructions. |

"That UNLOCK stuff is also important. If not UNLOCKed, you can only see menu's 01 and 02. In the '19' menu you must 'click-in' a unlock code. That code you can calculate from the "FGSTNR" number. You must add the last 5 figures of that FGSTNR number. for example: : XXXXXX12345 the unlock code will be: 1+2+3+4+5=15"

Clarification:
1. Press and hold on to the "mileage counter reset button" for about 10-15 seconds and hold. But your car must be in the "on" position however, engine need not be running. The center LCD would show: 01.00 FTSNGR (The last 7 characters of your VIN number) 2. Now, release the button and then every time you press the button, it will reveal different sub sections in the 01 section as shown by 01.xx. 3. To see other menus, 03.xx-18.xx sucessfully, you need to unlock it using menu 19. To go to menu 19 from menu 1, press the 'mileage reset' button again and hold for about 2 seconds. 4. Now, the menu would show 01.__. It's time to, without delay, keep pressing the 'mileage reset' button until you see menu 19. Now stop at menu 19. 5. After you release the button and stop pressing the button at menu 19, it will show 19.__ momentarily. Wait for about 1 second until it shows: 19.00 Now, without delay, press the button again and again until you reached the right code for your car. Pause after you reached the right code. Now, all the menus are unlocked. Your code can be 'calculated' from the last five digit of your VIN number for your convienence. If the last five digit of you VIN number is: 28393 for example, your code would be 2+8+3+9+3, which is 25. After you reached the right code of your car, pause until the display shows some changes.LOCK ON Code: 01 6. To go to other menus after unlocking, press the button again for 2 seconds (until, 19.__ appears on screen again, iirc). Then stop at the menu which you want to access. For example, stop at 8.__ if you want to have a display of your instantaneous speed when you are driving. The 8.__ display will disappear quickly after you stop pressing the button. It will now appear as 8.00 which indicates that you have entered 'Menu 8'. To access sub menus, you press the button once to go from one sub menu to another. If you want to get out of "Menu 8", press and hold the button for 2 seconds and now, 8.__ will appear. Without delay, release the button and press the button until you reach the menu that you want to see. Last edited by tctic; 12-31-2005 at 02:46 AM.. |

Has anyone tried 08.01 V-ANZ = "Anzeige" speed shown on dash.. ?
Does this make it show the current speed in one of the digital dash displays (if so which one?) ? If it is in the area where range/fuel consuption/etc is shows, does the "BC" button still toggle between all the other display options?

Tctic – very good explanation. Thanks, I wanted to do the same, but after reading your post I’ll simply show the result of my experiments
I spent some intimate time this evening with my car computer and it opened to me I took pictures up to menu 15. Forgive me if some are slightly out of focus. Anyone care to translate all of them? Here is the link to my photo album: http://public.fotki.com/mvs/public/b...90_hiddenmenu/ Anyone who wants to translate simply leave a comment to each photo with translation or explanation. I did not change any options, and frankly I am not sure if it is possible. It looks like it is purely for informational purposes. After I know more about each menu (after I have some translation) I will know at least what is what and what I can at least try to change. mike |

So I tried this hidden menu... but all this stuff is not quite useful... Can you make the car door unlock and lock when you reach a certain speed and unlock when you turn off the car? Or that HAS to be done with the sept update?

Has anyone dared use the 'reset' function in menu 21 yet? Just wondering what it resets / what happens.
It's a shame menu 15 isn't 'Oil Temp' like the first post states - that would have been great. |

I doubt anyone will use the 'reset' function in menu 21. I would not recommend that. Who know what exactly it resets. The best case it simply puts all the options to their default position/setting. Worst case... I would not try it

Nemis,
Did it start re-asking you for the code after you tried to get to that hidden menu? Or it was asking you for the code since the beginning? If it only started to ask you for the code in menu 19 after you initially tried to play with that hidden menu – did you ever turned the menu off and returned to normal mode? mike

Sorry you did not answer all the question that would help me understand better how it happens, but based on you last post I make an assumption that you:
First – enabled the hidden menus Second – you are in the mode where hidden menu is showing on you dashboard Third – turn the car off WHILE hidden menu is being active Four – return back to you car, turn it on and being asked for the code If this is the correct sequence of events that it seems normal under these circumstance. Apparently this hidden menu thing WILL NOT go away when you turn off the car. And next time you start the car the computer still thinks that it should display the hidden menu. But Computer also has a rule that password MUST be entered before hidden menu can be redisplayed again. That is my assumption on how it works. If you don’t want the hidden menu to be on all the time (and prompt you to enter code always) simply return to normal mode before you turn off your car. If I remember correctly to return to normal mode press and hold trip reset button for about 15 – 20 seconds again to return to normal mode. mike
