n55 injectors used on the n54?
Steve Dinan was mentioning how the n55 uses the same HPFP at a lower psi but with larger injectors to compensate for the lower psi (in an attempt to save the HPFP)
soooo can the n55 injectors be fitted to the n54 for more fuel?

Good post. I noticed the part numbers were different yesterday when we were making posts about his comments. Can we ask the resident BMW tech that visit's Clem's garage?

He wont know that one. The injectors need to be programmed to the car correct? wonder if they are able to do that...... oh the good days are gone, an injector was an injector. Any size fits if it literally...fits.

I'm only getting one bank of injectors replaced, so I won't be doing this. If there are any techs around to ask about the n55 injectors fitting the n54 (and flowing more) i will, but can't promise that since i'm getting there at 745am to pick up my loaner and don't think the service department opens until 830

I honestly wouldnt expect a BMW tech to be able to answer this question, they arent trained for that. we need to see the specs for the n55 injector based upon fuel pressure.

The person who will really be able to give specs on this injector based on bench testing will probably be the same person who has the ability to give us larger injectors and an upgraded HPFP...just saying.

If HPF put half the effort into the N54 that they've been putting into the S54, we would have a pretty foolproof fuel system by now at the very least, which would give everyone the incentive to start putting big singles on. I look at my engine bay and think about how much room there is for a top mount once the windshield washer bottle is relocated and vacuum tubes for the stock turbos are deleted.

I really want to put a scope on the injector circuit to see what types of voltages these are being driven at. From there, bench testing would be easy.

would be great if we could upgrade to those easily (if they are bigger) . This would solve many issues.

Even if they would work, a comprehensive software rewrite would be needed in order to match the injector duty cycle with the pump pressure.
If they consider this a fix, BMW should give new HPFP + high-flow injectors + new software as a HPFP fix and be done with it
