Anyone up for a 335i vs 550i run on saturday night-Long Island area?
My dad just got a 550i step. a couple of weeks ago. I think it would be interesting to compare with 335 performance, to really check out underrated 335 is. The car has just reached 1,200 miles I can really let loose now. 335 step or manual, coupe or sedan. Either or would be interesting. Maybe we can get a few ppl together if theres enough interest? I'm in north nassau btw. We can video tape it too. If anyone is willing, i wouldnt mind giving a test drive. :rocks:

I think it would be more intersting if you tell your dad what you plan to do on Saturday night, who knows, maybe he'll come out to drag race too, try it!

beamer,
don't you or one of your friends have a 335? hard to believe you'd have to find someone here. I figure that when my son turns 16, I'll probably just get him an M3. Hopefully he'll race and beat every 550, M5, E55/63/whatever he can find around here. I'm with canuck; tell your dad what you're gonna do; maybe he's already done it or has some tips for you. A couple of weeks ago here, 4 college kids crashed on lower Wacker Drive in Chicago; they had to tow the car to the coroner's office to cut the bodies out. Someone heard one of them screaming from inside the car that they were on fire.

If the 335i doesnt suck then it should creep up at higher speeds

Umm, so where are you going to race? Unless it's on a track or other closed course then you are an idiot, as is anyone else who street races.

My brother just picked up his 550. I previously owned a 550 and feel that from 80-120 the 550 is beast. Anyway, we are taking a road trip this summer (with both cars) and if the situation arises we will see about the speed issue. Since we are both in our 50s and rather conservative drivers I doubt we are going to put any lives at risk.

These kids were not racing and no drugs or alcohol were involved. It was just a bad accident; I haven't driven Lower Wacker in a while, but there are places where lanes narrow or there are posts in the lanes. There are tons of posts as they have to hold up Upper Wacker. It's a great shortcut to avoid traffic, but it's a little tricky. Point was, younger drivers don't have as much experience or always the best judgement. We all probably drove fast as teens, especially when we got our hands on our friend's parents MB's and Jags (XJS). Guess we were lucky; no major mishaps. You just seem to here about too many crashes where racing was involved. The idea isn't bad; why not do it during the day and find some road where you know there's no surprises/obstacles or other bad conditions.
