Any thoughts on the Audi A5?

I'm about to switch from a honda accord coupe that i've had for ~1.5 yrs. reason = just too boring

So i was about to pull the trigger on a new 2011 335d (impressed by the torque, handling, mpg and overall fit an finish...oh and the 5k cash from bmw doesnt hurt) but i was mildly tempted by an Audi A5.

Drove the Audi last weekend. The 2.0T gas engine seemed ok (better than the honda, not even close the the 335d). Inside was nice (perhaps a bit better than the BMW) and the exterior styling is pretty catchy. Oh, and it ends up being exactly the same $ as the 335d with premium package, sat radio, and htd seats.

Has anyone ever conisdered this Audi before?

Please help set me straight....this probably isnt even close but i just need some voices of reason.

thanks!!!!

335d is badass! Do you care about speed or not? A5's do look nice.

a5=looks

335d or 335i= looks, performance, handling, better re-sale value, etc.

335 is the clear winner, but then again maybe i am biased

Generally the S5 is comparable to the 335d and the A5 is comparable to the 328/330. If you say they're the same price I would go with the 335d hands down, its much more of a car performance wise than the A5. But if you can get an S5 at the same price, its a toss up, are you gonna drive year round in PA? If so I would suggest something with AWD or Quattro. RWD is doable in winter by all means but IMHO i would feel much more comfortable with AWD in winter driving.

for equal dollars, i vote and picked the 335 over the a5. If I could get s5 performance for the price of the 335 it would be a different sorry. However, an audit 2L turbo <<<<< bmw 3l turbo.

335 is a much better buy than the s5.

an intake, chip, dps should take the s5.

335 is way cheaper, and really responsive to mods, performance wise.

With some $$$ you can make the A5 look very striking but performance wise it's not on pace with the 335i.

S5 ends up being about 10k more than the 335d.
I will drive year round, but dont drive much! (~10 miles to work, each way x 5 days/week).
on bad days i can always use the wife's Touareg T2.

As far as driving style...i guess i need both looks and performance.
I do like the fact that the A5 is a bit more "rare"....
but then again, the little "d" following the 335 isnt very common!

Audi is a great looking car. It probably always looks better than a BMW when it is a like generation. But it also has a reputation of being nose heavy and has FWD characteristics. To each his own. imho people who go from one to the other are simply in search of some sort of faux status. You like Audi, that's respectable. You like BMW? Likewise. But I don't get the switching back and for thing!

A5 looks PIMP...the most "baller" car you can have for the money. Its so wide and big, so much presence.

I have a friend who cares only about his "baller status" and he's prob gonna get the A5 S-line. I told him its not a full on performance car the way BMW is (he has a 325), he says he knows...its about the looks. He's gonna lease it.

That is all.

A5 is one of the best looking cars on the road, IMO. Performance wise, I'd rather have my 335i.

Just a 2 door A4, over priced. Slow, S5 don't impress me either... cool looking head lights but for the money not worth it.

My thoughts exactly. I drove an A5 because I was also considering one before I got my 335. I think it looks as good as or better than the 335 and the interior is beautiful, but driving and performance wise, it doesn't compare.

The Audi is prettier. The BMW is sportier. Toss a coin. Can't go wrong either way.
