iDrive Navigation is horrible!!!
Last week I bought a CPO 335i Sedan. Love the car except for the Navigation part of iDrive. The Nav sucks. I read on here 08 and below sucks, 09 and above is great. I have an 08, I need to learn how to use this awful thing.
I asked a couple questions here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472540. My main question why doesnt this Nav have popular stores like Target? ie: I type in Target for a name and nothing comes upwithin 25 miles (I know there is a couple). I was sitting in front of Target today and still nothing came up as I searched for shopping within 5 miles (this Target has been at this location for the past 10 yrs too). Tonight I went to a restaurant today called "Home of Chicken and Waffles" tonight. This place has been there for 25+ yrs. On the way there I typed in "Chicken" within 25 miles. It pulled up Church's Chicken 20 miles away from me while Home of Chicken and Waffle is less then 5 miles from where I was. I tried "Waffle". Similar results, pulled up some breakfast places 15-25 miles away. Why can't I search for Target? Last edited by STC; 01-10-2011 at 12:17 AM.. |

Maybe I'm a moron, but I thought the "name" field was if you wanted to save the search as a pre-canned search and not the name of a business itself.

1. You may need an update with new POIs, they always add new ones with map updates ($199)
2. You can get (if available) BMW Assist Concierge Package - ($199/year) - if available in your car you can search google for directions, or just call up concierge and they'll port the directions right to your car. Obviously neither is free, but would make a pre 09 Nav more tolerable. With the BMW Concierge you can cancel at any time and only pay for what you used, so if it's not working out, you don't lose much. Obviously if the nav update doesn't work, then you're SOL |

I know there have been a few times I couldn't find something like yourself but it ended up being in a different subsection. I'm also saving up for a retrofit. |

I'm sitting in the parking lot at LGA (LaGuardia Airport, here in NYC).
Needed to go to a Barnes and Noble. Now I know where a couple are.. but figured, hell.. maybe there's a closer one, and if not- I'll at least have directions to get me to the one's I know quicker. Low and behold, INav tells me that there is one within 2 miles! Cool. Didn't know that. So I accept the destination and off I go. That's 5 mins of my life I will not get back. Took me to a corner with no B&N in site. Turns out there has never been one! For a system that costs $2100, I expect better. Always motch |

Bmw Nav. North America ( indash with idrive) is the worst i ever seen too. When i bought my new disc on 2009 i could not see my own address. I called Navteq who sells the nav disc originally and they told me that the mapping is 3 years behind, i told her my add. been there for more than five years. i was told if is not reported to whoever doing the updated it wont be there. The disc was $200.00 and 3 freaking years behing. Stupid.

Lol I dunno, maybe BMW assumes that people who can afford a BMW don't shop at places like Target.
