To sell, trade, extend the warranty etc...

Here's my situation. Presently have had an '06 330i for 16 months and already have 54000 km on it. (Yes, I'm a canuck) Warranty runs until 80 000km. I own the car outright given the number of km I knew I'd be putting on it. I'm a little leary of holding on to a BMW outside of the warranty. At present I am commuting quite a bit... about 120km/day but that should end about a year from now. So my options are:

1. Keep the car... without an extended warranty.

2. Trade or sell as it approaches the end and lease a new 335i
(does anyone know whether you can negotiate a higher mileage lease?)

3. Hold on to the car and purchase an extended warranty... any other Canadians do this and know what type of money we're talking about.

4. I must admit that the idea of trading up for a 335i at the end of the year would be nice...

5. Anyone realistically know when a 335d might be available in NA? If we're talking 2009 MY rather then 2008, I'll likely get a 335i for a few years first. If it might be available as a MY 2008 (ie: fall of 2007) I could be interested in the "d"

Ok... lots of options... any help sorting through this would be appreciated!!

I'd go with #2. I'm not big on holding cars outside of the warranty period.

just buy an extended warranty...otherwise try to find some mechanics that are willing to do jobs for you outside of work...this is the best and cheapest. Otherwise you will keep having the same exact problem over and over again

I'm almost in the same situtation as you. I have an 06 330i and have over 29,000 miles on it. I have had the vehicle for about 1 year 10 months now. so in about 1 1/2 years from now I should hit my 50,000 Miles which would end my warranty period. But, by then I hope to be graduated from college and have my own job, I will then dump my 330i for a substancially better vehicle.

Hmm, dumping a car because it is outside of the warranty period doesn't sound like you have much faith in the parts lasting a while!

Get the 335i. It's worth it. #2 all the way. #4 says it all.

Get the 335i if you can afford it! If not then extend the warranty and love your 330i!
