Help me identify a fluid leak
The 3 has been on rhino ramps since Monday waiting on spark plugs. Well, I just pulled it off the ramps and saw this:
Before I bought the car (used) I had it inspected at BMW. They found at trans pan leak and supposedly fixed it back in August. Could that be what's leaking again? It doesn't look or smell like oil. This car makes me sometimes.

I would say its the tranny pan and the sleeve thats leaking again...Look at the position of the underpanel cover...its directly underneath that pan when the car was on the rhino ramps.

If that's what is going on (and I think that it is, too), should I raise hell with my SA if he refuses to fix it? I'm out of BMW warranty but it was "fixed" just a few months ago...

I'm not just going to "dealer it" because it's out of BMW warranty. I do hope that my SA will take care of the issue as it was just "fixed" in August. Shouldn't there be a 1yr parts/labor warranty on a fix? The fix was paid for by the selling 3rd party dealer.

So then take it to an Indy shop.. Lol what did you want us to tell you, no warranty, then go to a mecanic. Nobody on here can tell you exactly what it is without inspectint the car, Im guessing its the sleeve...

there is a warranty on work and parts from BMW, but if it's determined that its a different part, then they will charge an evaluation fee. Check your receipt and/or call the SA to see what exactly they did. If this leak is at all related then it should be covered.

I do have my old repair receipt from August when they did the work. It notes trans pan & mechatronics sleeve leak fixed.

Should I expect them to repair it (again? I don't really trust they did it the first time) at no cost to me? Want to know before talking to my SA.
