[Procede V4 vs V5 ] vs Cobb (I have both)
So my predicament.
I just installed Procede V4. It's great and all and I enjoy it. But I don't know if it's worth upgrading to v5, at a "cost" of $150, since if I don't think the upgrade was worth it, the resale value of my procede has just dropped $150. I don't have the opportunity to give it a trial run. Q: is V5 worth this $150 upgrade? To complicate things further, I have a Cobb arriving in the mail any day. I'm comfortable testing out the Cobb because it's so easy to install/uninstall and it holds its resale value regardless of whether it's been used or not. Q: I'll be able to test the V4 Procede vs the Cobb. Would the V5 comparison be significantly different? Q: Given that my DPs, FMIC, and Mr.5 intake will be reinstalled soon, would this lean in favor of Procede, since Cobb only supports stage1 at the moment? Appreciate input especially from those that have used both tunes, as opposed to fanboys |

V5 would be different especially with the new DIC integration. A comparison of V4 would not be fair IMO.
Cobb Stage 1 can still be used on full bolt ons, but a catless DP will throw a CEL. (Many members run FBO on stage 1 seamlessly). Cobb stage 1 FBO VS v4/v5 wont be fair in the fact that the PROcede will run more boost. So its likely your comparison isnt near apples to apples at all. |

There is also new logic of autotune coming soon to v5 as well integrated with DIC. Not sure why you would want to downgrade to v4? Anything any more specifics on v5 can be better expressed by Shiv. Perhaps you might want to email him directly. |

wrt the V5 with DIC, I want opinions as to whether this is worth $150 compared to V4 (since I'm considering switching to Cobb, it would actually cost me $150) |

I had the procede v5 with new dic maps but switched to cobb. I don't regret it and wouldn't look back. Hope that helps.

While V4 is arguably still much better in many aspects than the others, V5 is definitely a step ahead.
Where it becomes unclear is when the Cobb ATR software will be released and we can see what results can be made with the custom tuning solution. Then we'll be able to better compare V5 and the custom tune. |

Cobb is stock drivability plus 14psi with better timing. If drivability is important, the procede is not a good choice. I'm not saying that the procede is bad. It's just not stock and there will be weirdness here and there. Case innpoint the aforementioned "night and day difference" between v4 and v5.... What could that possibly mean?

I went from V5 to Cobb. My Cobb is definitely slower, I'm FBO minus exhaust/meth. To me, with the DIC V5 maps, the feel was almost exactly the same as my Cobb now, just with more power. I bought this knowing that I would be taking a small step back w/ the Cobb at the moment, but I like the ease of installing/uninstalling, datalogging, ect. I think over time the Cobb will be even or (probably) better.

Like I said comparing Cobb stage 1 to PROCede v4 or v5 wouldnt be fair. IF you compare to V4, v4 will be faster. On v5 it will be faster and more responsive then previously. All the additional updates in v5 aside from improvements in driving characteristic also include better logic system of safety usually so its not always about power when upgrading. Although with the updates they have found more power in the mid-range thanks to changes in fueling and CPS offsetting etc. I'm not sure yet were stage 2 stacks up, I would hope it would be comparable to v4/v5 in terms of power. AS I mentioned earlier perhaps emailing shiv or having him entering this thread and describing all the benefits of V5 may persuade or dissuade you further. |

No offense but you own two tunes, you already flushed your money down the toilet when it comes to resale value.
Its like spending money on a nice car and putting 87 octane in and not seeing its full potential. Pennywise, Pound foolish. |

This thread is not a tuner war between COBB and Procede, it's only about one thing: is it worth upgrading to V5 and locking it to your car in order to compare the tunes. And the answer is absolutely yes!
A comparison would be pointless if you didn't compare the COBB against the best Shiv has to offer. As for the Procede running more boost: I thought that wouldn't happen because autotuning is still off in the new beta maps. So the Procede on map 1 would be pretty evenly matched with the COBB |

You sound like a couch race car driver to me. How could you possibly even be objective when you have 0 seat time, and your opinion is based on conjecture and innuendo. How about get off your high horse go drive some cars then come back report your fair findings? The child who never left their left their country think they have it better than the rest of the world. I heard Elvis is coming to town tomorrow. No kidding!

I was in the same boat, but two pulls in with the cobb I decided I didnt care if v5 was an improvement. To me, the cobb's smoothness at WOT was shockingly good and the power was less but at 2.5psi less boost. So, I know there is a lot left on the table for the cobb when further maps come out and when the ATR is out, its game over.
That was me though. Last edited by mithiral67; 04-01-2011 at 06:48 PM.. |
