Motorised Wing Mirrors Retrofit?!?
As the titles suggests, just wondering if anyone has any DIY guides as to whether this would be possible on a 2006 E90 and if so, where to buy the necessary parts?
Aim is to have them folded automatically when I close/open the car using the remote..I can't even do it manually it seems jammed .. does anyone else have this problem of manually folding the mirrors or ..? Cheers, |

Guys anyone, I've been reading and it seems this mod is not an easy one - almost impossible due to the programming aspect.. but surely its not hard to connect up the wires to a 12v line for these babies to fold in/out with the press of a button right? Am I to believe that no1 has done this retro fit??

My mate George could both fit this and arrange the coding mate. It's not impossible if you know someone with the skills
I think it might be expensive but speak to him, sound him out. I know he's done the retrofit for other models for sure, so.. 07753 931 617

The mirrors with the motors will be very expensive as will all the parts. Not sure I have heard of anyone getting this to work with the key, normally its a button in the drivers door. I looked into this for an X5 when I was buying one of those as so few second hand cars had the feature and it was essential for me. seemed a massive job to do and very expensive with mirrors at over £500 each, in the end I found a car with the feature so my advice would be just to buy a car with the feature already there or else just manually fold them in which should be quite easy to do if a little inconvenient.

Oh I see, well I would also do the same and buy a car with all the extras but I've already got the whip.. so I guess how daring I feel now lol.. thanks for the advice still !

Just give george a call mate I'd only be recycling information I know it's possible, I've seen it done on an E60. With the key. George can wire / fit and then another mate Jason can code it in.
Not necessarily suggesting it's a cheap one though - which is what puts people off. Give him a call

Just cut the hole You can always put a alloy plate back over it if/when you sell the car.
If you're getting earthquakes too then the alternative is to have a "show" sub in the boot and accept the fact it won't be spine shattering other than to people outside the car when the boot is open lol

I'm a member over there but Reason being because I've tried for many days to log on but it just doesn't let me.. for some strange reason....!! I've brought this up with admin over there so fingers crossed I'll be good to go soon.
RE: Sound.. I want a set up that doesn't 'shatter spines'... but is enough to stand out from a 106/corsa at the lights with a small set up in his/her car.. that would be embarrassing! I already don't tend to drag race as 320d auto isn't exactly fast off the line... that's where your good friend BW Chiptune will come in to good use ... things this summer are gonna' be crazy mod wise... but I'll not do too much. I know its a fever once it begins but I will not get carried away LOL. Wait.. do u have any eathquake subs atm that you'd wanna sell-I know from reading that you're in the market to possibly sell the car? |

Its true buying new part will be costly but you can look on ebay for scrap parts, i think mirrors front plate and be snap off and replaced so worth a try searching for scrap parts

Could be that we lost 1 days data due to a database breach and you registered during that one day. Try registering again with the same username and see if it lets you?
Otherwise: I'm an admin. PM me your username and password and I'll check it out / reset if need be. Quote:

I don't use them, just a JL W7 in the ski hatch. However, they come on here for sale relatively often.. Or you could look on ebay. I'd not bother buying new ones though as used come up reasonably often as I say.

If it's anything like the E60's, it's not a difficult job at all.
Just need to get motorized mirrors, and the physical install should be under an hour. The coding itself should only take 5 minutes as well, and you would be able to fold it with your key -- again, if it's anything like the E60s. |

Relatively sure it's exactly the same process hence how I said it's expensive but not difficult

cool, well am still waiting on George to hit me up with a price.. helped my sis move houses in April and was parked on double red lines in london for 15 mins whilst waiting by the car loading/unloading... got a letter through for an unbelievably hefty fine of £195!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can I appeal???? I was told by the estate agents who's building I was parked outside that If I am outside of the car with the bootlid open and 'pretending to load unload then I shouldn't be fined! And that's exactly what I was doing, but rather than pretending, I was actually loading in items!!! Bas..TURDS!!!
That's gonna slow down my mod as got some other stuff to pay off too!!! grrrrr... I couldn't buy those lights from G-10 either so will just keep a look out now.. BTW MEGA: I connected in my ipod for the 1st time through the armrest area and I found that only the left speaker worked.. and I had to turn it up FULL notch on the H/U just to get an average audible output...which is rather strange.
