Whatever the outcome and there's several reasons for smoke as seen I hope it's not too serious but as I saw from mine
Yep, I have the BMS OCC and RB PCV but it'll all be checked, hopefully getting the car in this week.

I'll update once I get a definitive answer, that's the problem with smoking issues, lots of people seem to get them but there're very few answers on why and what fixed it!

Not a good sign Andy BUT hopefully nothing too expensive and serious. As you say there are plenty that have issues but not the resolution.

Sorry to head about your head gasket how have you diagnosed it to be the cause? I fear the head gasket will be a costly fix as the DP's & turbos etc will all have the be removed as well to get the head off. I might be easier and more cost effective to remove the engine first then take the head off? I would take the opportunity whilst the head is off to get the valve stem seals checked or replaced if funds allow.

To be honest the cars covered 100k now so I'm jus going to try to find a low mile bare engine and swap it out.

I have oil in my coolant, really sweet smelling steam from exhaust pipes, looks likes The gasket is seaping externally as well and I did a compression test with poor results.
Cyl1 110 psi
Cyl2 110 psi
Cyl3 120 psi
Cyl4 110 psi
Cyl5 120 psi
Cyl6 110 psi
And that's after 7-10 cranks

The doesn't sound very good! I know when I was looking to buy low mileage replacement engines were around the £2k mark then there's removal, ancillary swap, fluids & air con and refit on top of that

I finally got the car on the dyno yesterday and it made 501bhp/520lbft which I'm very happy with and considering the car is on standard inlets. I was running the car in map5 which I know isn't always the best for the dyno but I usually get a little more boost with map5 over map2. Meth is def needed next in order to keep the IAT's down and yield a little more power. I'll post up the graph.

That's some great power figures! Was that on a dyno dynamics RR?

Ok is this a custom tune by wedge or just the standard stage 2 map?

I thought MHD maps were standalone only and not recommended for use with jb4?

Thought you'd have this area covered after all its a biasic issue withhe 335i's and modders would be well aware of it.

Be of course interested in what you discover as I've learn't nothings exactly straightforward with these cars., but as a clue have a look at that RB PCV valve, reason I say this is that I had a customer with a suspect one swapped for the OEM system for a while to test issue disappeard customer got a repalcement PCV valve sorted thereafter

Fantastic mate, very encouraging to hear! If I can get this bloody smoking issue sorted then hopefully I'll be hitting around the same.

Any chance you could PM or email me some of your JB4 logs for me to compare whenever you get a chance please?

I've got the meth kit sat in the garage ready to install but need this smoking sorted first. Well, that and the Ohlins shock that's being replaced under warranty on the 22nd too

Cheers Steve, I'll keep you posted. I've got it being looked at this Wednesday for the smoking problem, I'll mention for them to check the PCV. I actually have a spare one with the RB breather pipe so I might just swap it out to eliminate it anyway!

what is your peak boost and what degree of timing advance does this race map hit? What fuel do you use?

I usually hit around 18-19psi on VPower, not sure about the timing advance without checking the logs
