I found a video showing how to reset on BMW 320d. It seems to differ slightly from the way mentioned here in this thread. This guy applies brake while activating and selecting the service menu along with the BC button and the toggle switch.

You posted this 6 years ago, but I just ran across it and used it to reset my brake pad indicator light. I have an aftermarket BBK, so the brake pad indicator cables are tied off, but one of them must have gotten damaged and interrupted the circuit because the service indicator came on. I took care of the indicator cables, then followed your instructions for resetting the indicator light and iDrive message--presto! Thanks a lot!

Followed directions for my 2007 335i and it worked perfectly to reset the oil light.
It set it for 16000 miles from now...it's only been about 5000 mi since I changed the oil and reset it to 16000 mi at that time. But the light is off and now to do enough 'drive cycling' to populate all the sensors so I can take it to get state emissions inspection performed a second time. I had reset all the DTC's with an i910 scanner to get rid of a "93B2" code in the ASCM module -- airbag light, basically -- so I could get the emissions test and get the vehicle licensed. Then it failed the 'readiness test' because there was a paucity of information stored in the onboard sensors. So, I have to drive the car between 100 and 500 miles to complete a drive cycle. Which will not be easy, given the tag is no longer current...geez, I bet the dealer would be able to pass it, but at what cost? |

This was very helpful and worked for me just as described (2007 e92 328i). My extended service just ended so I had to pay for my first out of pocket oil change. I asked my SA last week how much to expect for this and was told $140 with "the standard scope." I have seen several members quote higher costs for an oil change, but given that the oil and filter run maybe $60 retail, this is hardly a deal. Now I don't have a problem paying the dealership a reasonable amount to perform service, but not pure mark-up to simply reset the indicator light. So after a little research and coming across this thread, I placed my service order today as "oil/filter change hold the standard scope", took care of the reset myself, and saved $30-$35!

Great post.
Thanks OP.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

What's up fellas!
Not sure if anyone has run into this problem but I cannot reset the micro filter. I have gone through the all videos and read the DYI and nothing. I have tried to reset it like 10 times. I have done some research and it seems like a reoccurring issue. Some one on here wrote that he had to code/reprogram the IHKA module (aircon). I have no clue what that is and how to do it. If someone can point me in the right direction or how to fix this I would appreciate it. Thanks. |

Just came back to this thread last weekend for a quick refresh when I replaced my air and cabin filters. There is really no reason to pay anyone to change those..... |
