Dear Jeff-
I was at your house Friday. You weren't. We need to switch cars once the bumper sticker is gone. Nate

If someone makes a bolt on kit with flash...that would rock...but as far as I know, no one does(I think Miller is working on one...but so far nothing). |

If there is ANYTHING I've learned in all of this...an engine is just an engine. If you are comitted to the marque...you can do the work. Honestly, even a GT-1 (and even the latest system...not sure what it's called) is on the grey market for less than 2 grand. You could program, service, diagnose and work on any modern BMW if you wanted to apply some time and intelligence. Also, there is enough of a 'community' out there to help you...there isn't much you couldn't do. I'm not afraid of our E60. Though we will be buying a warranty...I plan to have the car for longer than the warranty will last. An engine is an engine is an engine...even with all the electronic gizmos. Just gotta do a lot of RTFM and take your time. Approach the thing with humility and a willingness to learn, do lots of research, commit to some $$$ spent in special tools and there really is no reason(IMHO) you can't service a BMW just as easily as a chevy. |

While I agree with most of your statements...the newer the motor, the more electronic diagnostic tools you need to maintain it. It's not time or cost effective to rip it apart every time there's a problem...you need to computer to point you in the right direction first.
