Don't give him the key!!! You cannot trust anyone but yourself!

Just make sure to have tirerack send you a tracking # after they shipped the wheels. This way, you will know which day to expect them.

I think you can have the shipping company reschedule the delivery if you call them and tell them your not going to be home.

As Mike said, you can always contact the shipping company like FedEx or UPS and have them reschedule the delivery for Friday instead of Wednesday.
