Well, technically the boat docked on Sunday, 1 day ahead of schedule. But yeah, it was pretty quick. I'm filling out some BMW Assist docs now, my CA is activating the Sirius account, etc. Wow, this is actually happening.

My Sirius account appears to be pre-paid for 1 year. Is this what you guys who also got Sirius expect? I thought it was supposed to be pre-paid for a longer period, possibly even forever (a "lifetime" account).

Sirius wants you to get use to it and like it so after your year is up YOU pay to buy it... why would they give their service away for free forever... If you hate it after a year don't renew it... If you like it after a year... renew it and you already got a $155 of free service... i think its $12.95 per month |

just stepped out of a press conference, that took care of 2 hours of this "last day", sweet!
All I gotta do now is go home, sleep, wake up and take the LIRR to Douglaston, pick up the car, then it's off to the Mandarin Oriental for some afternoon tea. (rediscovering my inner brit?? birthday tea!) Top down in the city, definitely looking forward to that.

The only "lifetime" subscription I am aware of is the traffic alerts connected to the Nav system. They are supposedly guaranteed for four years, and as long after that as BMW retains the relationship with ClearChannel (they broadcast the data).

GOT MY CAR!!!!
wow, it's so worth it. the only complaint is the 50F temperature preventing the top from being opened. So my father asked me this morning, can I drive out to Douglaston to pick them up, drive to the city for dinner, then drive them back. I actually said yes.

I wonder if I can claim first pickup, probably not.
Pics were taken with gf's camera, no cable here. Will upload later this afternoon. If anyone seems a black 328i vert in the city, top down braving the elements, that's me.

Got mine!
I went to the dealership around noon, paperwork took about 20 minutes, then my CA walked me over to the car. I have to say I was quite stunned the first time I saw it. The proportions are so perfect...
Then the training went on for about an hour--like someone else posted on some other thread, it was mostly on the iDrive, lol. Some first impressions...the steering at low speeds is definitely heavier than I'm used to (I'm used to my parents' Lexus and Mercedes, both are clearly designed for comfort over performance). The gray poplar is actually gray and matches the black interior very nicely. The A pillar blocks my view more than I thought it would, but that's probably because I'm not used to a coupe profile. The engine sounds amazing when you start it...it has that G35 tuned exhaust sound to it, except deeper and classier. Last but not least my CA was actually very nice in person (I had transacted the whole thing via e-mail previously). Driving home through the streets of Manhattan, I definitely felt more than a little anxious and I had to be very careful with the accelerator, because the torque comes on so early. I was on constant high alert for pedestrians and other obstacles, lol. I can tell that the thing really wants to go fast--but it's on a leash in stop and go traffic in the city. When I pulled into my apartment's garage I probably spent 15 minutes just telling the attendants to "please be careful with it, I just got it today." They park Porsches and AMG's all day, so they probably think I've got an extreme case of OCD. Well, I do! If my car were parked in my driveway I'd post some pics but since I don't live in the 'burbs and it's hidden away in the bowels of my building's parking garage, I don't know when I'll get the chance to take pictures. I'll try to post some later though! Congrats to everyone else who picked up today, and to those who are still waiting, don't worry you'll have your car soon, and you'll love it! |

Ok, here's another fellow passenger on the Courage. I've been lurking on this thread since it came out! I'm picking up my 335 vert tomorrow and just can't contain my excitement!
I actually got a peek at it yesterday at the dealership (I happened to drop by just minutes after the truck had finished unloading my car...lol) Congrats to all the other Courage voyagers! |
