Any update on this? A new eta? (looks like November is out at this point)
I'm feeling pretty fortunate at this point to have made it almost 140xxx on the original, I was hoping to change mine before it breaks???

Now I'm optimistic I might not have to work on this heap again anytime soon - I'm only at 110K.

Im over 140k on the original as well, with everything since 60k being with a minimum power of JBD at 100% plus meth, so its possible.

I shot them an email earlier today. Should know something soon.

Don't worry too much about the stock one failing. I think this is more of a summer/ AC issue IMHO.

Okay guys (and gals) the day has come!

I was just notified by Fluidampr this morning that they will start designing the pulley for us beginning January!

Does anyone have a broken oem pulley they can send me? This will be great help for accurate development of the part.

I'm sure that can be arranged depending on the vendor.

Should hear more as far as pricing and product development early next year.

It would be great if you can edit your first post and put the update and link in there.

Thanks.

What does the lead time look like for a production unit? Are we looking at 3 months out before the first production unit rolls off the line after design starts?

Seriously, nobody knows. Why keep asking for details about something that has not happened yet?

We have new information which is the start date of the actual project. Previously, we had none. I am an electrical engineer at a manufacturing facility and we are a leader in the aerospace and defense industry in the production of certain widgets. Because we are experts at the processes, we have high forecast accuracy when it comes to project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & controlling, and closing projects. It does not appear like this is Fluidampr's first design, development, and production of a silicone-filled harmonic balancer. They should have a good idea of what the schedule for the project life cycle should look like.

And I'm curious. What's the harm?

Why? Because Fluidampr is a quality performance part with a 500k life span. The problem with OEM pulley is unpredictability of how or when it will become destroyed. In most cases this could leave you stranded...

No harm. I will forward your question to Fluidampr this morning, thanks.

Statement I found from Fluidampr in another thread...

"The OEM unit is pretty near the same price, once you add the pulley and time figuring this out into the equation. What seperates the Fluidampr is that Fluidampr is 100% made in the USA at our facility in a small farm town Springville, NY. We invented viscous damper technology in 1946 for Heavy Duty Diesel applications and supplied many OEM companies until they decided to go overseas and not drop the price of the damper to thier customer... go figure.

There are still a few OEM's that demand American Made and although I cannot disclose these names, ones favorite color is green and yellow. Fluidampr is of much higher quality and SFI certified. On top of the OEM's we supply, we are the preferred choice of many top diesel engine builders including Banks Power, Scheid Diesel, Haisley Machine, etc, etc, etc. We also sponsor teams like Big Bad Dodge with a 2000hp cummins and we are the official damper of NADM."

Updates coming soon....

f00dstamps

After chatting with Fluidampr this morning the course of action is all similar to what you just described. After we get the broken damper mailed to them (thanks Omaha) they will be sending it to their engineers for an accurate price and details on build.

These guys are no joke, before even releasing the product they will collect torsional vibration and other data on the dyno to absolutely ensure this is the last damper we will ever need!

The Cummins guys love these things. Most see smoother traits across the rpm band and idle quality.

Lol funny. I guess you could ask yourself the same question, "why not replace your def tank with FCP parts and get lifetime warranty??"

Because taking the garbage out repeatedly sucks..

Don't forget that this can leave you stranded as well, I'd rather drive my car with confidence and idle it without worries.

If the electric car market doesnt significantly improve charge distance and the current state of new ICE vehicle options remains as awful as it is right now I might be going for 1,000,000 miles it seems like.
