yeah another car, my pistons are fine. well i hope they're fine. my plugs look good every run at least!

Got the tranny out today, as suspected broken output shaft. oil was clean as and the break is clean as. so hopefully it's just replacing the broken stuff and not much other damage was done!

Still waiting on my new turbo wheel to arrive. hopefully get it and the box done at the same time so it's fighting fit when it's back together!

The snap on that shaft looks clean n' straight, if I remember correctly Simon at Nizpro showed us a basic example of a clean snap and a rough snap of those shafts, and stated that a rough snap is the sign of a better material, maybe get a better output shaft?

These transmissions hold 1000whp+ with full slicks more often than not.

so I'd say this was just unlucky more than anything

Thats great news mate, easy fix. It seemed to let go quick and clean without the car moving off the line. Give her a good clean out and should be good to go.
It may be worth upgrading the input shaft as well while you have it out, that way its bullet proof then

Do you feel the diff ratio & car weight may have been the cause? 3.46 is far from ideal with a powerglide with big hp & heavy car.
4.11's & 5500rpm converter with a glide might be needed in this type of chassis

nah, the gearing is fine in my opinion, I'll run out of legs due to lack of RPM if it goes to tall. it's only 3500lbs with me in it. glide should cop that all day long. and remember they're only radials not slicks.

it should always break traction before gearbox lol.
I'd say it's just luck. or lack there of

Isnt a 335i sedan about 3550 kerb weight, without driver & fuel? Plus add a couple kg's extra for the added weight of the glide. I would have thought 3800-3900 total.
Do you know what rpm you were crossing the beams last time out?
Your right tyres should have broke traction before the box. Possibly just unlucky, time will tell i suppose!
A thing to keep in mind though which you may have already thought about: 1000hp specs are generally based on USA cars/dyno/statistics, which is probably closer to 850-900hp on our dynos (est). Im sure you would be up near 700-800hp (eng) on 30psi?? Not to far off the limits of some of the PG parts, then factor in the diff ratio and stall being on the low side.
Fingers crossed the shafts hold up but id be going hardened billet steel shafts while shes out!

Good to see it should be an easy fix. Unusual for it to break the output shaft. Could there be any movement of the transmission on the rear mount that could be putting any sideways stress on the shaft?

I've heard that a bias ply slick can actually be easier on the driveline compared to a drag radial. But that may just be because you are less likely to get wheel hop.
Don't think that would have helped in this case.

It makes me sad seeing this car off the road, even sadder than mine being off the road. Hurry up and smash some mid to low 10 shakedown passes!

I weighed mine before I went to the drags first time. it was 1620kg with me in it, full tank.

Should be a touch lighter now with the carbon boot.

it was built to aussie 1000rwhp specs haha. It was built to go in a VE SS with a iron block twin turbo 7 litre LS and old mate pulled the pin on the build so I bought the box off him.

Appreciate all the kind words. I'm flat out the next couple weeks with drift matsuri on this weekend and then world time attack the weekend after.

So hopefully towards the end of october I'll get the car back together and painted and then I'll get it back to the drags. probably just roll off the line for the first pass this time! hahaha

Didn't get any donations from here so the repairs are slow hahah.

I've been super busy. we went to world time attack challenge to compete in the pro-am class. Placed second by only .15 of a second! Against a 1000hp full carbon evo!

101 motorsport CRX is now the undisputed fastest fwd circuit car in the world. Stoked for that result. it's been a hectic few weeks.

Back into it today, called the gearbox guy and gave him the go ahead to fix it. I'm super unmotivated to put the car back together, but I wanna send it to the panel guys and they'll get the sads if it doesn't drive so I best make it work.

In other news I want to sell my 2015 370z if anyone is in the market? low km. cheap.
