Any update on pricing? The wait is killing me!

Any idea what to expect in terms of labour hours required to do a turbo swap like this?

Their competitor sells a turbo upgrade for $2300, and RDsport sells one for $3000... So you can figure how much these will cost.

As for labor... It'll be a 9-12 hour job? I think the dealer said it was a 16 hour job to replace my turbos. But I'm sure they took their sweet ass time and possibly added a test drive or two into the mix.

main thing for alot of us is how just upgrading with their turbos (just the new ARS turbos, not their complete kit) will run with our current JB3s or proceedes.

also, my guess is that for those of us with tunes AND aLOT of bolt on mods, can we run (say) 2 pounds more max psi boost with the current piggybacks
we have? my GUESS is that this should be possible cause these new turbos will be no where near their max limit if we run say 18 psi.

i really don't think it is going to be possible for a piggy back tuner to keep the fuel trims, etc under "detection limits" with larger turbos in place - heck, i don't think a piggy back is going to be able to provide for a textbook tune at all..we need flash tuning in the worst way.....and a solid datalogging/diagnostics suit even worse (think vagcom)

one last thought:

if ARS can make their first stage turbo upgrade (upgraded turbos only - no extra bells and whistles) compatible with our JB3 / proceedes tunes and all our current bolt on mods, they will sell alot more of these upgraded bolt on turbos.

my 2 cents from a sales and marketing perspective.

Wow, so I guess the regular motors are shit then

I know there is a difference between an //M and regular 1/3/5/6/7 series, was just giving an example. I think that BMW builds powerful, reliable engines, whether it's an //M or not, imo.

problem is... there is nothing like that out there right now.
shark edit is vaporware as far as i have heard.

maybe these turbo upgrade guys know something we do not know.
but my guess is that whatever they are thinking, it may take them quite a while to tune BIGGER turbos.

i think sniz point was that the e36 american M3 versus european M3 in those days had alot more differences then than they do now.

this is true.
besides the much higher HP (approx 240 versus 282), the european motor was alot more stout.

i have an e36 alpina and i circuit race against both american and european e36 M3s.
...off course, alot depends on the driver, but the european M3s usually give me more problems.

my 2 cents

Yes, I know this, I was just giving him a hard time about BMW giving the US a "regular" BMW engine. I wish we actually got the 3.2l euro version...316hp

Also, thats awesome you circuit race with your e36 alpina I always wanted to get into racing myself, but never did

you know what is absolutely true and i tell my friends regarding racing?

it is as good as sex only alot more expensive

btw, only the e36 m3 EVO had 316 hp...the regular e36 european M3 had 282 hp.
but what most people do not know is:
i was told that the e36 M3 evo was actually very hard to keep running at top condition.
what i also was told is that you can never find a e36 european EVO that actually still has 316 hp.

my 2 cents

it's ASR not ARS btw

I think they already mentioned that they will not provide info to tuners other than Vishnu ATM to make a tune for their turbo upgrade. Not sure if JB3 will work or not...even if it does the gain will not be enough to justify paying for the upgrade IMO...unless you have a blown stock turbo / out of warranty.

I don't even get how it'll work at all without a tune. Anyone know if they said it'll work on a totally stock car?

mmm you guys have no idea the quality that evolves from the shop known as ASR. I got to see their sprayed M5 as they pulled it out before they worked on my 335 when I had it . Really, I would bet my 2 vehicles as well as my salary on these guys. Quality and superb manufacturing is well within their reach every day. Abid bring them the best and let them see for themselves.
