@cn555ic do you know if it matters if the resonators are side-by-side or staggered? I don't think the vibrant resonators will fit side-by-side on my magnaflow exhaust

No I plan on having them both in that straight section after the downpipes but I don't think they will fit right next to each other because my piping looks tight together already.

I have an e93 328i. I had the muffler deleted this weekend, and I absolutely hate the sound from low rpm. I get a really cheap honda-type ricey sound. I know the basics of frequencies and how resonators work, but I can't quite figure out what type of resonator corresponds to this unpleasant tone and where I need to have it installed to get rid of this embarrasing sound. Is this the same problem that you were able to fix with these resonators? And would I only need one resonator for the 328i? Also, should I replace the OEM resonator, or install this one further towards where my muffler was deleted?

Installed with my PE and fully catless. Night and day difference compared to without and fully catless. Cleaned up the sound. Definitely a must with PE and fully catless.

This will probably make you laugh (unless you've already seen my questions about this on other threads ), but...
I installed a PE in my E93 328. It is actually a little loud for my taste (at or near WOT) with the top down. (It is actually almost too quiet with the top up). It is growing on me but it was just louder than I thought it would be with the top down. Before I bought it, I hadn't read many E93 owners report what they thought of the PE. Most who had it had also modified cats, headers, etc. What do you think adding a Vibrant 1792 to the PE system would do? (Note: Everything else is stock except for the Euro airbox and 3.0 3-stage manifold conversion). Would it totally destroy the sound of the PE or do you think it could produce the happy medium I'm looking for?

Worth resurrecting this thread again as a current PE thread has been transformed into a discussion of rasp, drone, etc. when paired with catless DPs. I have ar design DPs paired with the stock 335is exhaust (which is of course different than a stock 335i exhaust). I'm also driving an MT, so I tend to wind out the lower gears more.
Drone and rasp may well be a part of it all, but what I really find a bit much is the incredibly loud Honda fart cannon sound when I get close to 5K RPM in 1st or 2nd gear. Holy Rice-a-roni, Batman! Anyone know (1) whether the resonators will put this particularly annoying type of rice back in the box, and/or (2) whether the stock 335is exhaust needs the 2.25" Vibrant 1790 or the 2.5" Vibrant 1792?

Hey, this thread is your baby, how about some moral support here?

And it drones pretty badly even with the flap closed. Since I already have the secondary cat in place, I don't know where else I can put resonator... So I am thinking to put the center muffler from older sedan model to my coupe. What did you do to fix the drone? |

It's been made a bit difficult by having to sort through apparent exhaust differences among E9x's -- pre- or post-LCI E90, X-Drive, etc. Here's a pic of a completely stock E92 pipe set-up for reference: From what I've been able to gather thus far, for the stock E92/E93, including the 335is exhaust, there are three basic places, using one or the other Vibrant model: (1) In place of the secondary cats using the Vibrant 1792. The view in the pic here is looking toward the front of the car. This is apparently the easiest, and you can use the wider 1792s because that location is designed to accomodate the cats. But I want to avoid this primarily because of the smell and fumes. Although some people say it's not bad, others say it is. I have a vert, so there's that. Also, backing into my garage with catless DPs leaves enough of a stink that I can only imagine would get worse, although it's not horrible and does dissipate quickly. (2) Just behind the x-pipe (i.e., the side toward the rear of the car) using the Vibrant 1790. The view in this pic is toward the rear of the car. This placement of course allows you to keep the secondary cats. However, it doesn't appear to be as straightforward as just swapping out the secondary cats. As you can see from the reference photo at the top, the driver's side of the exhaust coming out of the exhaust pipe is slightly crushed and curved, apparently on purpose to accommodate the pipe positioning. You can see in the pic with the 1790s here that there was some artful welding work done, with wrap or tape or something. I imagine if you have a good local muffler shop, they could do this, but I don't know. (3) In front of the x-pipe (i.e., the side toward the front of the car), presumably using the 1790. I don't have a picture of this; someone in another thread advised it a couple of days ago as the proper place to put it when wanting to keep the secondary cats. But as the picture I do have shows, there is a brace plate of sorts in this position, and I don't know how or whether even the narrower 1790 would fit here, or whether it's ever actually been done, and this was just a thought. My inclination is to buy the 1790 resonators and go into the muffler shop and see if they can do option #2. If they say they can't, and even option #3 is out, I'm apparently stuck with having to swapping out the secondary cats with the 1790s, where I'd want the 1792s (although I imagine I could just return the 1790s, buy the the 1792s and go back to the muffler shop, and deal with the waste of time).

I don't see how a muffler is going to fit where the x-pipe is.
