"Warranty: Only offer warranty that matches New Car Limited Warranty (NO Extended Warranty coverage)"

That BLOWS. So after 50k it would be better to have gone the non-dinan route, since then bmw won't have grounds to deny coverage (assuming you remove your chip whenever you go in for service...). With Dinan they will know you have dinan and use that as grounds for coverage denial. Anything from exhaust/turbos/engine failure/o2 sensors/cooling system/clutch/transmission/rear subframe/etc could possibly be denied due to the 30-40% or so increase in torque.

I had my extended warranty on an e39 M5 voided (wasn't a BMW warranty, but was bought through my local dealership that was Dinan authorized and sold me/installed my Dinan mod) because I had a Dinan CAI on my car. It added maybe 5hp, and they claimed the rear subframe failure on my car was due to the Dinan product. $6000 bill dropped in my lap.

I just think the lack of post 50k coverage is nuts. Especially for $2000...the same software for an e39 M5 was $500. That is some serious inflation for a product that offers less protection (and who cares about the large gains--every chip tuner has them with this car).
DINAN should at least offer an option to pay, maybe $500.00 more for extended warranty coverage...

Pisses me off.

I haven't heard of any solid evidence to support any reduction in power for MY2008.

Will BMW allow you to install this on a leased vehicle or will it void the warranty?

Two of my friends have Dinan cars and the warranty has never panned out for either of them. In both cases, hind sight 20/20, they would have done less expensive mods and saved the cash against out-of-warranty repairs that might be required.

On paper I would easily pay the extra money for a warrantied flash, but as others have already stated it most likely will not be money well spent. I suppose ECU money will have to be put toward a new diff.

Could it be that Dinan is not extending the warranty beyond 50k because they the flash has the potential to seriously shorten the lifespan of the car?

Dinan told me they will have an official press release tomorrow. I would have to see a dyno of the reflash before I can consider. The money for me is a factor but not really the most important factor. I think if it keeps the warranty and matches or slightly exceeds the 1.47, it is a decent purchase.

yea i agree. if i see the dynos really pushing the dyno with good numbers, it will be worth it along with the warranty of somkind the EXTENSIVE R&D, and the speed limit defeat.
i would throw my 2k in for it.
but like i said, i would need a dyno. and maybe even member dyno's to verify and try to get a ride in one before i go with it.

NONE of the Dinan mods are warranted past the 4yr/50K mark, from what I understand (for e39, e46, e60, e9x, etc)

Man that price is brutal!!! and not in the good way.

What's so cool about warranties anyway... mine's essentially void as soon as the car goes into the shop.

So... anyone scheduled to have this done tomorrow?

If I read correctly, this will be available tomorrow and can be done at a Dinan authorized dealer. Who has $2K burning a hole in their pocket?

Not sure why all of the excitement about the speed limiter defeat like this is the first option to overcome it. Shiv announced last week or so that the limiter is now gone for the procede V2 as a user option..."for dyno use only"

Just spoke with my local Dinan dealer.

1) The Dinan flash will not void the warranty. It is the same as the BMW warranty. Dinan worked with BMW to do this. The rumors of Dinan and BMW going separate ways are false.

2) The flash may be applied to a leased car.

3) For this particular shop, if it is a 2007 model, the flash can be done in-house. The 2008 models, the DME will have to be shipped to CA for the flash, as BMW changed the interface connector (BMW is no longer using a "GT1" interface starting in 2008).

4) BMW-dealer software upgrades will NOT interfere with the Dinan programming. The only potential problem is if the DME itself needs to be replaced. In that event, Dinan will reflash the new DME for free.

5) The flash takes 30 minutes to perform.

The flashes are incompatible with piggybacks. You take them out first.

Leasing firms would normally not allow a tune as tuned cars are hard to sell. At least I would expect that they raise the monthly lease as the tune reduces the reselling value of the car.
