Yup! a little too cold to be outside checking each other's newest mods. Too bad didn't get to see Pseudo Nim's carputer and hear his Downpipes. My fault really, week ends are so pretty damn full with ski, soccer, homework, groceries and chores. I had to make a trip to work too this PM. Fun, eh?

Ken, funny thing I ran errands all day as well and by the end I couldn't stand my grey car, so I made her black again with a car wash. As I was having my car washed, I learned it would snow for the next 2 days.....grrr.

Yup, not surprising given that the N54 is their first turboed car since I can remember. That is to be expected with any car one gets, that the next engine iteration might be lighter, faster and more efficient. I do however believe that BMW will try to make their engines more tamper proof as we go along.

Starting performance figures are similar to current N54, tuned it's too early to tell, but I would bet a tuned N54 (mine is stock!) will not be far apart from the future tuned N55.

Hey, I still drive a 15 yr old, 115 hp beater and enjoy every gear shift, but maybe I am the exception.

According to the discussions, the Valvetronic will make tuning the N55 lots more difficult. I personally am not fussed by this.

Allegedly, the N55 is supposed to get rid of the pesky HPFP issues prevalent in the US more than elsewhere, and also reduce the operating temp of the engine (remember the oil cooler issues of early N54s). If the performance figures are accurate, the turbo lag will actually be reduced, since the torque is to be available from 1,200 rpms.

Since the 1992 7 series - that was a wreck of an engine; I think it was a turbo 12 (could have been an 8-not sure) - I remember one of my father's partners got one and sold 6 months later (in the shop for half the time). This is before the modern engine management systems.

glen, i looked into some bulbs really sick led bulbs, which we happen to have.
like full out par30s and regualr incandescent and candelabra made in full led...they are really crazy, use nothing, and will outlive us all...however they cost a shitload.
ps: do you want a set of d1s, there are 2 sets left? 1 6k/ 1 8k, rest are sold.
