Hey all,
I just received my device and installed it this morning. I tapped into the plug side of the harness instead of the DME side, Yellow toward DME and White towards the sensor, black to the second wire starting for the back and red on the last wire (red/green on DME side). I noticed the Green LED on the device remains on even after locking the car. I pushed the open/close hood switch and locked the car and the LED remains on. Is that expected? Won't it drain my battery is it stays on at all times? Or does it shutdown automatically after a certain time? Thank you.

"It should eventually go out, there are two capacitors within the unit that may keep the LED lit for awhile, also the Red io2 wire should have no power when the key is off. Either way, it will not drain the battery the draw is less than 10ma." Len ****** I haven't tried doing that with the hood open and switch pressed. I did wait a few hours but as soon as I unlocked the car and open the hood the catsim LED was lit. Car started fine this morning.

Just wanted to share my experience:
Bought the io2 from amazon ~March this year (so had v3.0), but hadnt installed it till now, since I moved to CA. Disconnected everything, took off all covers, strut bar, then couldn't find my io2! Ordered another in a panic from A74, but then found it an hour later. Install was a breeze (thanks to sd306 for the DIY). Drove the car, had some random codes, which I cleared. Had to do a few driving cycles to get everything ready (evap took forever...driving on the freeway at 60mph is not fun). I did consistently get the half-engine/low power code, but I'm not sure if that had to do with my VRSF IC, or maybe I have a small crack in my stock charge pipe? Code would show up, but never actually had the decreased power. Finally passed my smog test today! I do have x-drive, and watched the guy do his visual inspection under the car. Luckily I have secondary cats, else I might not have passed? Anyways, I had a great experience with A74. Answered all my questions and refunded me for the unneeded, extra io2 I ordered. Thanks to A74, kevbuick, and sd306 for your contributions to finally getting this DP fix. |

Searched through and couldn't find a direct answer - how do you turn off autoclear? Running on an '11 N55 Jb4.

I'm having a hell of a time achieving readiness on my 2011 N55 E90. I installed the A-74 sim and I believe it's working (I have seen the catalyst show as ready). I have done the complete drive cycle twice now and cannot clear 02 heater, the reg 02, egr, and evap. My smog was due in jan so I'm pulling my hair out with this.
Here's the mods: Vrsf straight pipe Vrsf front mount Jb4 Charge pipe Alpina flash Oil catch I'm running jb4 on 0/0 and 1/4. The drive cycle I'm doing is: Idle for 3min 20-30mph for 3:15 40-60mph for 15min Idle in gear for 5min Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Hey are you saying you basically passed inspection with JB4 just on MAP 0 and no other mod? You were able to get the readiness needed before autoclear could clear cells or before any check engine lights turn on if you had autoclear off? Can you elaborate a bit more? Thanks. |

He turned off autoclear and set the JB4 to off. He drove it long enough to get readiness with the DP fix and passed. I went through the same thing. |

Mods listed below. What do I need to pass emissions? I know this thread is about a fix but it's a whole thread and I just want to know exactly how to pass, what I need and what I need to do

It's a box that jacks into your oxygen sensor wiring and tricks the ECU into thinking that you still have a functioning cat in the downpipe.
It's sold both as the Area 74 catsim, and the VRSF N55 downpipe fix. The install instructions are here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=303 To pass emissions, you need the OBD readiness monitors, including the cat monitor, to show as OK. MHD OTS maps block the codes for the rear oxygen sensor so to pass emissions after installing the dp fix, so the cat readiness monitor shows as N/A. You may be able to pass with this but it varies by state. you need to flash to map 0, which does not block these codes, then drive around for several days to let the ECU set the readiness monitors. These instructions talk about specific patterns of letting the car idle, drive around some amount on the highway, etc, but in my experience just driving around as normal for a few days eventually sets all the readiness monitors to OK. |

This info is for a 2012 135i N55.
Just and FYI I passed my inspection in NJ with a catless DP! I put the Jb4 Map on 0, Turned off autoclear, let it idle for 3-4 mins cold start. I then started to drive to my inspection shop aka private shop. I drove around 30-40mph for about 30 mins and then 50-60mph for another 25 mins. Basically that was my ride from my house to the shop. All my readiness monitors were ready except 2, one of course was the downpipe/o2 and the other I can't remember, however he was able to hook up some sort of ECU to my OBII and force the ready monitor on the missing one which allowed me to pass bc in NJ you will still pass if only one monitor is not ready. Basically I was able to pass without any DP fix and with the DP/O2 monitor not ready. No cells turned on for me during my trip. Hopefully this info could be helpful for others as well. GL! |

I am using the A 74 cat sim running the mods in my signature. I have MHD flashed, no JB4. I set MHD to map 0 and drove around for the day. The car passed Illinois emissions no problem. These fixes work amazingly and saves me the cost to swap the dps. It seems to throw a code about the os sensor but Illinois is only interested in readiness and if CEL is on.
