Ok guys, got the JB4 and DCI intake being shipped tomorrow. I can't wait to get it installed. From what I'm hearing from, I should just stick with Map 1 until I get bored or my tires wear out. I'm betting that I burn through the tires before I get bored. Keeping in mind that my car has no other mods but the soon to be installed JB4 and DCI, should I stick to maps 1 and 5? Am I risking anything by running 91 octane or will it just not make as much power?

Haha i could imagine! Hopefully no more cool mods come out anytime soon otherwise you might feel even more left out lol. Then again after a few months you might miss your car so much you start browsing for 335's again lol.

Not many places in Sac area that have the blaster setup aside from Elk Grove as far as I know. Pricing varies....check their website for coupons!! They have the real deal setup. Solid people.

Every car is different but most recommend 20k cleanings, but paying a dealer would be expensive at 20k. You could easily get away with 40k cleanings though. 20k intervals would be ideal for gas mileage and max power ect...

You can run map 5 just fine. It will out perform map 1. I definitely suggest mixing it with E85 off the bat, it will auto tune itself and definitely shines. You wont need an intercooler until summer. IC is the LAST of all the mods you should be getting if you are all about power. The biggest gains will come from DPs. Also E85 is equal to 115 octane. and power rating closer to a 105 range. On its own it will perform on par with C16 race fuel and in some FI applications exceed the thresholds due to the cooling properties of the alcohol and your ability to raise timing as well as compression. Enjoy. |

Also, great move with the JB4 out the box. The only thing my cobb was good for was backing up my JB4 for my BMS flash to run more E85.
You can look up the drag times and see what they were running for tuning software to give you an idea. The JB4 is fool proof out the box and adjust on the go, hassle free. You want to run an E50 out of the box then do your mix and reset your map 5 and there ya go.. You want to stop and top off some 91 it will automatically adjust on the fly. After many services you will rarely if ever hear of them going through the hassle of opening the car up, thus all you need to do is set the JB4 to the factor setting and make sure you're on pump gas and call it a day. It also takes no more than 30 minutes to do either way the gains more than make up for it. |

Intercooler and DP's would be my next mod. I love that Terry offers the DP fix! I know that is only for off road cars, but let's play with a hypothetical. IF one was to put in catless DP's and had the DP fix, what are the chances of a smogger seeing the catless DP's? I am aware that if they do the sniffer, one would be screwed, but what about the visual? Are they that thorough? It seems like it would be tough for them to see the DP's without taking that plastic part out from under the car or moving stuff out in the engine bay. Day 7: I've realized that modding is similar to an addiction. I've already spent ~$500 of money that I should probably be saving for something more important. I don't like spending money. I really don't. But I'm sure that my distain for spending money on parts to put on an already functional vehicle will be nothing but an afterthought that fades from my memory as quickly as the poor fellow in the v8 Mustang who wanted to race fades from my rear view mirror. I'm sure the feeling of satisfaction will give me the urge to buy another add on. And another. And another. And I will be broke, but I will be happy! Ah the life of a speed addict. |

FYI, just got smog, they did the OBDII test, no sniff. No way they would have seen the DPs, but they still did the visual, they won't pass you if they see any mods. Put Stock intake back in for sure.

Where did you do this? Last year i called all over and couldn't find anyone who didn't do the sniffer! Maybe things just changed recently...

Also If you got the JB4 G5 which is the only way to go, it already includes the DP fix in it so no need to worry about it. I have also heard of one guy passing smog with DPs but he was vague about it. Intercooler gains are minimal outside of summer DP gains are massive. And the DPs sit under the shield.. They aren't going to see them in a smog check unless they put you on a lift. If you wanna make some power with this thing definitely head over to N54Tech and B*mmerBoost, dive in and research your butt off.. Everything is there for you to pick at, the fastest cars, the best results. The Pros and the Cons. These cars can be decently quick with minimal done to them IF you do it right. |
