Fletcher: I just knew you'd take the bait
Yeah, I came up blank as well. Need a darn NS sponsor to access NS site... Looks like a no go ... unless we get a hold of someone in Greer, SC ... there might be contact information for the local NS office that handles the BMW logistics... How are we gonna track those trucks departing from the VPC in a few days?? I think our cars couldn't have arrived soon enough...already pushing the envelope of sanity Starting to get tracking withdrawals

Ok ok enough about the Don Juan ...
Its just that W W L site has my car officially discharged at 14:30 EST or a coupla minutes ago Just stopped to think how amazing its been...just 27 days ago (early 150 status) my baby was just a bunch of numbers and data in BMW's computer system...today its running around on its own power (in the hands of hopefully mindful shuttle/transport drivers) on U.S. soil and in about 10 days, I would be able to take her home Thank you once again everybody, couldn't have picked a better bunch of shipmates to obsess the long days away. Now the relatively long and uncertain (read: untrackable) wait

Fletcher - I'm in Chicago too (ordered from Fields BMW).
Has your dealer given you anything resembling a firm date of delivery? While I haven't been an active participant of this thread, i've been reading it since the DJ set sail. I just want to thank you guys for making the wait much more interesting and tolerable for me. My SA didn't update me ONCE during the whole process (great guy otherwise though). |

Are we in this thread to assume you were onboard the DJ? If so, welcome aboard, and happy unloading too! My SA didn't contact me much at all during the wait (once actually to let me know my financing was approved, and the order sent in - which I already knew at that point), but he did call me today, all excited, and told me he wanted to update me where my car was. I told him I knew exactly where my car was, and he asked me where. I told him it was officially unloaded from the Don Juan in Charleston at 1:30pm local time, and was on it's way to the VPC! He laughed, and told me I knew how to ruin a surprise. I told him I was surprised he called, and asked him if that was good enough. He laughed again, and said it would do. He then told me to expect it at the dealership next Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. About when I was expecting it in too. I would think yours will be in around the same time, give or take a day.

Well...I just figured I'd view this thread in its printable version so I could save it as an HTML file for posterity's sake (to file away with my brochure, etc.), and while I'll do that anyway, I did notice something. Mr. K...what is it you did when you'd "attach" an image to your messages? All my attachments only show "1 attachements" whereas your actual image shows up! What gives?

Ahoy all, been busy and havent posted for the last few days, but Ive been checking in.. Happy to know that our new family member is now on Good old USA dry land.. Fond farwells to the DJ for a job well done. As I touched on the other day I believe I am the closest member of this little thread to Charleston and the VPC in SC. Im in the Athens Ga area just down 85 a bit from the plant etc.. Ive got my delivery camera ready, and will let everyone know when I get the much anticipated "call".. I assume I will be the first from a geography standpoint, but of course you never know.. By the way KL2DC.. You are "on the water" no more..

Shipmates... To the first shipmate to take delivery please start a new thread in the pictures section under the title of : "Don Juan 02/13/06 Shipmates Picture Thread" or similar... we would like to hear from you guys. Feel free to share thoughts/stories etc.... Hope to continue the fine level of camraderie that was displayed in this thread the last 15 odd days
I finally understand why BMW involves you so much in the ordering and shipping process ... it's like fraternity hazing Only strenghtens the bonds between the car and you and other Bimmer drivers ... you don't get that with a Lexus Mr. K !!

Shipmate Fletcher: Sent you a PM....
Can't believe you are archiving this thread as well ... I tagged the images rather than attached, might go back and upload all the (many pics) to the e90post site (if need be). Patiently counting the days ... Do you have any mods planned?

Shipmates, err, former shipmates - I've been so busy at work this past few days that I have not been a very active participant in the finally days of the DJ voyage. Sorry about that. I totally agree with the sentiments already expressed that it is bittersweet seeing the DJ get to Charleston and unload it's cargo. It's sad because it's been a blast tracking with you guys and building the camaraderie. But on the other hand, our cars are finally in the U.S. and getting ever closer to their final destinations. So I would like to thank all of you (even the lurkers) for making the journey across the pond a very enjoyable part of the delivery process.
I like the idea of archiving the thread - so I'm gonna so that as well then I will burn it on CD along with all of the other BMW related items I have been collecting. Finally, I am really looking forward to seeing pictures all of your new rides!! I believe we are all first time BMW owners so it will be interesting to see our impressions with the cars after we have them for a while.

Request for help!
I am aboard the Maersk Wave, the ship which left just a few days behind the Don Juan. She is scheduled to dock in NYC today, but the sailwx.info site has not been updated since 2/27, so we have no idea where she actually is. Can someone on here who has access to the AIS program check the NYC port for me? Our Maersk Wave thread would be so appreciative... |

Can someone lend our friend bsjd00 some assistance ... my temporary AIS live subscription seem to have expired (coincidence with end of voyage )
If the sailwx.info has stopped updating, well you guys know by experience, the M W should be currently docking in at the NEAT, if she hasn't already done so... Cheers... Mr. K!!
