I would highly recommend upgrading to the NFRM. You can find used ones super cheap on Ebay (I did), and then just use WinKFP to code the VIN (I'm not even sure this is required to get it to work, but it's easy, and did it just to be safe), and away you go with NCS Expert.

Cheers!
Many thanks for the help!

Slight threadjack here (but hopefully forgivable as OP has gotten his question answered) but is it necessary to buy and FRM2 module that exactly matches the lighting features of your car? I had been shopping around for them a while back but gave up because it seemed like finding an exact match was tough. For example, many units were xenon AHL but I don't have AHL...

My understanding is that yes, I need to ensure I purchase a "like" unit. Is that right?

Just a warning, my lights (e92), cornering lights light up the foreground. If yours are the same in this regard, it will hurt your night vision. The bright foreground creates the illusion that it's brighter, but you can't see as far.

Be safe

Correct. To avoid any issues it's just safer to find the closest one that matches your car.

This might help:

Just FYI I was able to do this to my 2007 E61 530 and a relatives 2004 E83 X3; Both high beam and flash to pass use both bulbs and they work in auto and high beam. I still have to check if they work in the 0 and parking light position. I don't think the version of the light module matters for this.

I will be doing it to my fathers 2007 335 when I can get the damn cable to connect to it.

Are you able to tell me what values you changed on the FRM? I've looked through what's available multiple times and can't figure out what it would be...

Or was this a physical modification you did??

Thanks!

I find our cars terrible for this in general. Even without any mods or tweaks, there are no foreground limiters in our projectors... the most intense light falls immediately in front of our bumpers.

So I completely agree: I'm going to see whatever I'm about to hit in 4K UHD about 30 milliseconds before I smash it (and possibly myself) to pieces. Wouldn't have seen it coming though because my eyes were adjusted to the stadium spotlight 2 feet in front of my vehicle...

Yes, you need to make sure it has the same options as your original. In my case I needed one that had Xenon AHL.

Cheers!
