you have to pay a transfer fee to transfer the bmw extended warranty the previous owner paid for.
unless he cashed out at a pro-rated point, that warranty transfer is still valid after you pay a fee.

even though i know hemi's going to get to this before me..
a warranty can be transferred to you, youll just have to pay a transfer fee, they can't deny an existing warranty to you. i was referring to if you wanted to have your car "certified" by bmw, not EW plan, you will need to match their rigorous/nazi checklist.

ps, call around and see if you can find a warranty administrator, the bigger dealerships have them.
they get a cut off of that $250, and i think they get a cut for not allowing the warranty to pro-rate back, so they have a fiscal motivation to get it done for you.

no problem, good luck!
again, until you hear specifically that they still covered a car despite mods, id be hesitant to recommend a dealership as "mod friendly".

LOL good luck with that! biggest group of D bags this side of the Mississippi!
OP, Try Prestige BMW in Ramsey. There's a guy on here who told me they were mod friendly (he has FBO and just removed his Cobb back to stock maps when he brought it in). keep us posted; this would be good to know!

One thing's for sure, you don't mince words! Yeah I think it just has more to do with the SA, the issue one's car is having, and the techs working on it than the actual dealership sign over the door.

comes down to what management will approve to be done, or what one master tech is willing to risk doing or not despite your mods. this "mod friendly" dealership title is really being flung around too much. i think its better to rate a dealership "wont completely fuck you over the second you roll in with mods". but i promise you, push come to shove most wont, or cant, have your back on a warranty claim. but seriously, prestige can go fuck themselves. they fixed nothing right the first time, and they always fucking bitched at me like it was my fault the bmw kept going wrong.

all i have to say is that dealers should show some appreciation for the tuning culture, its opened a whole new demographic for potential owners -- guys (and even some girls) that are really into their cars, expressing themselves and are willing to spend the money on performance mods, a new set of wheels or a bodykit. so long as the owner is making smart and well-informed decisions (running a tune thats within a "safe" boost setting, appropriately spacing wheels, etc.) dealers should be more interested in working with the customer.
it would not only be beneficial to the dealership by opening up a whole new revenue stream (doing aftermarket work on cars), but would also benefit bmw owners by creating a competitive atmosphere between dealership service departments and privately owned garages for customer loyalty. |

^ and you miss a massive point. dealerships would love to suck your dick and warranty all the shit in the world even if it was directly related to your mods and not give a fuck. i mean who cares right? bmw is flipping the bill.
but theres the issue, bmw is flipping the bill. and as much as the consumer likes to hate it, a dealerships #1 criteria is making money, which is shocking considering the amount of over head in employees merchandise etc it has. if they can make you happy and make money, sure theyll do it. but if making you happy means they wont make money, then come on, what do you expect them to do? not make money? but why should they risk your mods being the reason bmw retracts or rejects payment for work/parts?
