0-60 in a MT with procede & no shift lag would be under 4 secs with these ratios if you could get traction. Ditto for 1/4 mile with traps >115. Little harder for the 120mph+ crowd though, they would have to shift into 5th.

And once people start trapping over 125MPH the 6MT will really shine 6000RPM = 122 MPH, 6250RPM = 127 MPH, 6500RPM = 132 MPH 5500RPM - 6500RPM seems to be the sweet spot in the RPM range.

I remember you mentioning that with the shorter ratio you could not get the traction down. I had the same problems with the M3 diff but what I did is a tuned in a far less aggressive boost map, stepping it up very gradually and it seems to have done the trick in terms of traction.

Georgie, you a goddam Greek hero ese! Well done to you & the master. This is a great breakthough. I rate find the diff from an M-DCT & swap ring & pinions. The M-DCT has a 3.15 final drive if I remember correctly.

It is (at 3.84), but if you use the LSD from the M3 DCT, it has a 3.15:1 final drive, which differs very little from the 3.08 of the stock 335i 6MT.

I reckon the DCT is the one to go for. I am just waiting for them to become available on the used markets. A lot of guys are planning to go shorter with the DCT's which will make the parts available. The other option is to hang onto this diff, when much bigger turbo conversions become readily available I can just launch in second and the rest of the gears are perfect.

GeorgeSmith, it would be great if you could describe what extra engineering work is needed for the swap. What exactly must be done to the driveshaft ? Is there no adaptation needed for the sideshafts ? A bit more detail would be great...

The Quaife itself is in perfect condition. For some unknown reason the ring and pinion are worn. The company that fitted it either used the wrong oil or did something wrong. I have zero experience with differentials unlike motors etc so it is hard for me to know. I will be sending it for a opinion to a trustworthy company. cstavaru, the engineering work that was required was the shortening of the front section of the 335 driveshaft. I am not sure what the exact measurements where.

Thanks for the info, must be sure to find a company that has experience in mounting the LSD.

When you chop the drive shaft you have to rebalance it, which is not a job for your local corner Eurotuner garage. Brett (KMS) would be the way to go short of the dedicated BMW race shops.

Everyone must please understand that I am giving this information as my personal opinion and should not go out and buy the components based on what I say. You should research things for yourself prior to financially committing.
