By the way... Im going to take that drive a few times when my E92 comes in. Its probably only about 2 weeks away from me taking delivery...
Another one to try is route 9 west of Leesburg out towards WVA. There are some great wine places to hit along that route, and its a great drive... My personal favorite is the Breaux Vineyards... |

i don't know too much about hookah bars, but there used to be one in Falls Church off Rte 29. That was a long time ago, and I only went there 'cuz this crazy chick I was dating liked that stuff...as for the microbrewery, the Old Dominion brewery is here in Ashburn, and they have a working brewpub at their facility, and out in Southern PA (about 1.5hrs) from me is a really good micro-brew place too. That's a decent drive away...
I am not a big fan of the Route 9 drive due to the slow cars/trucks that tend to bind up traffic. Then you're just f-in stuck behind some truck spitting rocks at your beautiful car...I'd say, if you're looking to go the Wva routes, go all the way out Rte 7 past Winchester and head west on I-50 and take it to I-220 and start exploring...isn't that what a Nav system is for? Enjoy.

I'd say we let them do a smaller warmup one for Spring and leave the One Grand One for our very own beloved old sponsor. We need to have an Chipotle Executive Meeting on this to craft out another Vision for the coming year.

Scott...
Here you go: March 17-18, Drivers' School and BBQ Summit Point Raceway The primary goal of these schools is to develop and hone your car-control skills. It is not to drive fast, although speed will come with improving skills. We seek to produce not necessarily the fastest, but the most proficient drivers possible. Each drivers' school consists of driving sessions on the track and at the skidpad, as well as classroom sessions. During your on-track sessions, you will be driving the full track at progressively higher speeds throughout the school. An in-car instructor will work with you to help you improve your driving mechanics. Braking, cornering, and accelerating techniques are refined continuously during your on-track sessions. Skidpad sessions will allow you to begin to master the skill of controlling your car at the limits of adhesion. You'll learn how to control understeer (when your front tires lose adhesion) and oversteer (when your rear tires lose adhesion). The skills learned here will not only be invaluable on the track, they may well save your car -- and your life -- on the highway. Classroom sessions present the underlying mechanics of your car's behavior and how your inputs as a driver affect it. We present basic driving theory, the physics of car behavior (i.e., the "why it works" of driving), and discussions of the techniques of advanced car control. No single drivers' school will ever convey all there is to learn about driving. In this sense, our drivers' schools are part of a continuous learning environment, one that requires several years of attendance at dozens of schools before proficiency is attained. Even at that, there is always something more to learn, something additional on which to work. Acquiring driving skills is a process that is never completed. More details here: http://www.nccbmwcca.org/index.php?id=138,89,0,0,1,0 Also check out the Capital Driving Club. They host frequent Auto-x get togethers. http://members.cox.net/capitaldrivingclub/

Ase,
I was thinking about heading out from Ashburn, down to Middleburg, across to Bluemont and then back to Ashburn. Total trip would be about 1.5 hours, 65 miles from my house. I have not been to a few of these places in Loudoun before, and I want to give my Navigation a shot on the go, so it should be a decent trip. Im thinking about doing this trip, and then one out Route 9. Route 9 is just beautiful, and plenty of fun driving roads. It also gives me the excuse to go pick up a bottle of my favorite wine... If anybody else is up for it, let me know... |
