There are literally no cars at this price point that can offer what yours has as far as looks, interior, and engine. Fix it up and keep enjoying it.

Farewell E90
I wish it were just some repairs that my E90 6-speed needed. But I'm moving out of the country, and the costs of shipping & certifying are more than my car is "worth". Been an amazing car, I doubt that I will ever find something that will replace it.

I feel your pain, I really do. I will soon have to replace my 6mt e90 and I will cry a little the day I let it go.

Premium for 6-speed manual 2006 E90?
Have to let her go. Does anyone have any idea if/how much of a premium a manual 6-speed brings in a 2006 E90. My car has just 80,000 miles on it, and all the similar age cars are automatics selling for $4500 to $5500.

I had a very similar conversation with myself recently.
My 2010 e90 6MT 335i has 75k miles and I'm starting to get little things here and there. In the last year I've had some mechanical issues: replaced the water pump, charge pipe, all ignition coils and spark plugs, and the AC needed patching. I've also had some interior issues: moonroof shade delaminated, door handle on the passenger side got "gummy" and needed replacing. All of the above had me a bit nervous so I started looking. I went and drove most of the usual suspects: Audi R/S5, Jaguars, AMG C43/63. I didn't look at the new BMWs because I'm so pissed with them that I won't even go in the dealership. The AMG is very nice, and it's what I would buy for sure....but even a CPO would be ~$45k, it wouldn't be a 6MT, and the steering wouldn't be as nice. The cost of the repairs has been less than $3k with parts and labor, some of which I've done myself. Even if the AC needs replacing, which would be a big deal, it's FAR less than coming out of pocket $40k for a car which is nice but not as crisp as our cars. I'll have to replace my car one day, but for now it makes much more sense to maintain than replace. The n54 engine is sturdy and, with a manual and RWD, the lack of (too many) electrical do-dads means it's a relatively simple car. |

I’d try to ask 1-1.5k more and see what happens. I did see 6 speed coupes or sedans for 5.5k or even 4 grand, but these had 120+ kmiles, although seemed to be in a good shape

I would repair it if it was my car, I have 200,000 miles on my 325i E90, Doing all the minor and major repairs myself saves 1,000s of dollars vs the dealership or independents prices, This car would’ve been sold if I wasn’t doing all the repairs myself.

Update
After everyone's help and advice on here I have gone ahead and replaced my leaking powersteering rack/ outer tie rods and changed the transmission filter/fluid. Car drives great and only has one issue now which is just my TMPS light. I think its the actual module in the car because I had a shop try to relearn my sensors and its still not working, dash says the system is inactive. Hopefully I get another 100,000 out of it!

I learned the hard way. The cheapest car is the one you already own. Like other said, the monthly payment alone on your new car will never equal the maintenance and an n54 with the worst luck.
