While sitting int he car the other day, temp gauge read 100 and it stayed constant with the rad fans on blast. 1/4 of my intercooler is also hidden behind the lower part of my bumper which makes me to believe that it can get more air.
can you relocate the sensor a bit to get it further away from the FMIC? sounds like it's artificially heating the area around the sensor...

Yeah, this is what I think is happening. I might be changing bumpers soon so i'll likely do everything once OR i can just live with it being that I know or have an idea what the issue is. How this has never happened to anyone else with the 7" intercooler is beyond me.

Thanks Again

I'm running a 9" cx racing intercooler and have the same exact problem. I definitely think the intercooler being much bigger than stock is cutting air flow and reading much higher than normal. I will be relocating the sensor tomorrow and hopefully will fix the obnoxious fan from running like a jet engine in this terrible FL weather

If you have the time take some pictures when you're at it. I would love to see how close it is to the intercooler and where you relocate.

Thanks

Yup...same intercooler I have. I think the only fix to this is to relocate the sensor. Do you still encounter high temp readings inside while on the highway? Mine goes down on highway, but surface streets and traffic....fans start racing and acting crazy.

What year car do you have? You might also need a better bumper....one that allows more airflow....through the front.

Yeah. Try relocating the sensor or just live with it like i'm doing until I get chance to relocate and switch bumpers. The only thing that makes sense to me is that with the bigger intercooler and heat coming off it, its spiking the sensor.

I relocated the sensor right behind the kidney grills to get actual air flow. I now get proper readings for ambient temp as before the intercooler was definitely spiking the temperature. Solved the constant jet engine sounds due to the extreme heat lately in FL and the fmic. I'll post some pictures tomorrow

Ambient air temps won't affect when your radiator fan kicks on... That is determined by the coolant thermostat.

Interesting. So based on my situation, what would you say is the issue? Its still doing it and only started after the bigger intercooler was installed. JF335is moved his ambient sensor and doesn't have the issue anymore. I'm yet to make any changes so i cant really say what works for me just yet.
