Fuse 83 is constantly powered and luckily for me, that slot is empty and unused (UK car). So plugged the spade straight in. My wire is fused further down.
Thanks for that, I have a UK car also so I guess it would be the same for me. What about the ACC wire, what did you do with that? Also, I would still prefer to use a fuse tap to be able to add in a fuse for it in the fuse box rather than further down, what rating would the fuse need to be for a dash cam?

Cheers

How is the parking mode working so far on the blackvue? Also would you be willing to do a step by step instructions guide for wiring it? I'm clueless with electrical stuff and would really like to do this.

I have managed to wire it in and all is working very well.

Parking mode is really good but beware you will need a decent size memory card. I have set the parking mode motion sensitivity to its lowest setting and I the camera is still pretty much on 24/7 in my car where I live and park.

Still I am very happy with it so far.

Unfortunatly I don't have a step by step of my installation but the only hard part is identifying which fuses are on when the car is off and which is the ignition. Then using those fuse piggyback (add a fuse) cables I installed the necessary wires. The rest is simple.

SO I have the Blackvue DR650GW-2CH and thinking about installing the Power Magic Pro as well on my 2010 BMW 328xi.

I don't know too much about cars, but after reading this thread, I feel comfortable doing this myself and finding the correct fuses to use.

Are people using the 11.8v or 12v settings on their PMP? (what is safer to use?)
Also have people had any issues with cold weather and difficulty starting the car when the battery drains to 12v? thx

Hi,

Im using 11.8v as cut off and it works perfectly. The power magic pro steps in after a couple of days of not starting the car and when I start her up, I have no issues whatsoever.

Thanks. In what situation would one use the 12v cut off vs. the 11.8v?
Thx

Ground

Where did people put their Ground wire for their Power Magic Pro?

Attached is a photo of my fusebox. It's a tight space so I can barely see, but is this screw (see yellow Arrow) an ok spot to ground, or is there a better spot that is under the passenger glove box ? thx

Plasmo that works as a ground; I just used it to ground my radar detector doing a hardwire install. I've also seen people self tap the brace next to the screw... However I can't see how that could be done without magic tools!

I would like to know this too.

If I buy a fuse tap (that doesn't come with extra fuses), and want to place the tap into a fuse socket that had a 10amp fuse in it, do I place another 10amp fuse (or lower?) into the fuse tap + the original 10amp fuse that i removed from the fusebox?

You use the original 10amp fuse for the bottom slot, and the upper slot is for whatever you're hardwiring. I'm not sure of the rating on the dashcam but its probably safe if you used a 3amp (read the box to see its limit and shoot below that)

Thanks.

Yes, i'm planning on installing the BlackVue PMP to the DR65GW-2CH camera.
I'm going to pick up two fuse taps at my local auto store once I figure out which 2 fuses to use (this will be my Xmas break project) but it's looking like one will be ATM and one will be ATC from what i've seen here on this thread.
The fuse taps i'm getting (Bussmann) don't come with extra fuses.
I'll probably need to buy two fuses for the taps, but not sure what amp fuses to get. Do you think 3amp or 5amp fuses will work in this case? thanks.

also, in general, does the top fuse need to be a lower amp then the bottom (original) fuse on the tap? or does it matter? thx

Here's a labelled fusebox (2010 BMW 328i xDrive) for those who lost the card for reference:

Here's another thread I used for my install,

and Bills page is always good for his installs and the PDF's he creates:

Well, I installed the Power Magic Pro to my DR650GW-2CH today on my 2010 328xi xDrive, and it works fine.
I tested it for about 30 minutes, and later after starting the engine, I got an "increased battery discharge" warning. Does this mean it's time to replace my battery?

Could be that you had the doors open for quite awhile and that popped up. Just clear it and you're probably fine. If you have a charger and you're low you might want to fully charge it back up.

No my doors were closed during this time period. I tested the power magic pro while everything was off, and I was still in the car.
This has been happening recently (always seems to be in winter cold weather) on a few other occasions.

Hi mate,

I used fuse 8 for ignition as it was the cigarette lighter fuse (ignition powered only)

Worked fine.
