Honestly, I think he is partially right and part wrong.
Get rid of the X6M and the X5M The one car that should have an M version should be the Z4M, it could be a real sports car. Keep it M3, M5, M6 and Z4M, no SAV M's!!

Why don't they continue to make a N55 version of 1M? If they make one today, I will buy it rigth now.

I disagree. There is still a need for a smaller M car like a 1M or Z4M Coupe/Roadster because not everyone wants a car as heavy and large as the M3, M5, or M6. As well received as the previous Z3M and Z4M cars were, why would they want to abandon that market?

Oh yes very great.....go on like that and loose more and more clients due to such decisions.....like the decision not to bring a F3x Touring M3
And no M Performance whatsoever gimmicks will replace a real M car.... As a real M fan and forced to drive a Touring as an everyday car, I will unfortunately have to stick to my C 63 AMG T-Model. |

Thank god they killed the X3M. I'm neutral on the F11M -- I know there's a big market for touring monsters in Europe, but ultimately it's still a station wagon, and they don't belong on the track. I'm disappointed with the lack of a Z4M, however. But I'm guessing that BMW shot its load with 35is and couldn't justify another $8-10,000 above its already inflated price tag to develop an S65-powered M version.

So no X3M or Z4M? Which frankly I thought would've been two cool cars.
Yet you say yes to the X5/X6M 5.0 Diesels, which won't even make it to the states? Am I the only one confused by this logic? |

No. Makes 0 sense philosophically, but I'm sure there is some sense to it finacially otherwise they wouldn't do it that way. Very disappointed that there is no M coupe or z4 M. I could care less about an x3 M, but makes little sense to have larger, heavier versions. If your going to whore out the M brand, why stop now?

Good. 1M, X3M, Z4M, M3, M5, M6, X5M, X6M.. MMMMMMMMMMM... too much.
M3/M5/M6 = Good enough. I can understand X6M, lets get rid of X5M.

Seriously???
So we turn a big ol' SUV into an "M" sports car... but the two-seater convertible sports car designed to be sporty with performance on hand will NOT be getting the "M" treatment? On one hand that absolutely sucks. On the other hand THANKS BMW FOR HELPING WITH MY RESALE VALUE !$!$!$!$!$!$!$!$!$!$!$!$!$! |

Good job BMW, for using the ///M performance line for more affordable accessories and performance versions of, while saving the "straight ///M" moniker for the true motorsport cars, which can handle track duty.

And I certainly hope that it was not anybody from Bimmerpost who were dictating the merits of a BMW Supercar because Audi has the R8 and V6 engines in an M because that was plain rude. With the auto industry you can have one thing planned one day to have it revoked or changed the next. So you hear one thing one day and then it is different the next. It is also difficult to keep up with things especially when you have other priorities. You cannot just jump back and forth when you have something in status. The X3M is slightly controversial because there will be an X4M. The X6M in increasing growth markets is the best selling M model. BMW are not stupid to not realise the potential of a smaller X4M opening the market to new customers. But X4 and X3 means you cannot have one without the other. which happened with the X5 and X6. But with M Performance Diesels splitting the portfolio and catering the mid and upper segment models. do not be surprised if something comes along for the lower end of the portfolio. The Z4M is slightly different because the US Market would have to have the Roadster with the folding hardtop to appeal to a majority customer base. so when factioned in with a Coupe it became too expensive and not make the business case. I have an E61 M5 Touring and I love it more than the Sedan , there is something Nostalgic about that V10 when it goes into symphony with the gear changes it still gives you goose bumps. I am warming to the V8 in the F10 but I am still on the second date and have not committed fully to the cause. The Touring is the ideal cross-continental cruiser normally my Touring comes to Geneva , multiple fuel stops and all. But I have a 320d Sportline at Geneva which is possible the worlds greatest car it just took the trip in its stride it was virtually like driving down the road.

That being the case with the current Z4, is there any news that can be shared about a potential Z2 coupe/roadster coming to market someday?
