With the V3's I had to dremel the tabs more flat and put vaseline on it ...then I wiggled the bulb flush until I could feel it push in further all of sudden, this means tabs lined up...then you have puch in hard while rotating clockwise...you will feel it grab tighter all of sudden and then you its in...if one side is in and one side isnt quite flush, the outer ring intensity wont match. Hope this makes sense. Or maybe I made all it all up... Your drivers side looks ok to me...take a better pic of passengers side and post pic. |

It is a damn shame. LUX makes a quality product but the AE design in the E90 just leaves a lot to be wished for. Honestly, if you just want white light go for them, but judging from these pics do NOT expect them to look like any new 5 series or even the later E92's, they're just not that bright in comparison and that isn't a knock on LUX, they make by far the best aftermarket kit that isn't straight replacing the AE ala OSS Designs which is the direction I think I'm going.
I'm really tempted to buy this kit, but have a feeling I'd just be disappointed again in comparison to the stock white AE's that come in other bmw's This picture is probably the best representation of how they look like in real life: http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/...psb21574e0.jpg The outer ring is essentially during the day on most angles that isn't straight on not really visible that much in comparison to the inner ring, maybe playing with the Kelvin rating might help match the inner/outer ring a little better and make for a better overall product but I was just crushed after spending $250+ for the V3's when I figured out that what I was looking at was the final product. I'm not trying to hijack the thread, even LUX will tell you straight on that the AE design limits the ability to get equal light out to the outer ring, even the stock halogen's behave the same way. I just don't want people to experience the same disappointment I did, again it is a great product but it comes down to what your expectation is. +1 for adding the ability to change kelvin rating on the fly, really cool feature Last edited by deceptiv.335; 05-21-2013 at 10:11 AM.. |

Guys,
There is a disparity between inner and outer rings but its not as bad as some pics depict...the look and intensity changes completely depending on what angle you look at them from...slight movement of 6 inches makes a difference. But some of the straight on shots could be affected by this...if you dont seat the bulb flush into socket, the inner ring intensity will look fine but the outer ring will look really weak....this is easy to do as we dont have alot of leverage pushing the bulb into the socket given we are all probably only using our fingertips to do this. I had this going on for awhile until I pushed the bulb in deeper and toghter and then all of a sudden the outer ring looked much better....they really should look like the pics LUX themselves have posted in the past. Cant believe someone upgrading from V3 to 4 hasnt posted side by side pics yet. |

I finally got mine installed yesterday; don't let anyone fool you, if you have a normal sized hand then you will have a hell of a time getting these in. The hole you have to install these in is way to small and the way you put the bulb in you have almost no leverage, it's a complete pain. On the other hand the light output is nice and the outer ring does get a significant amount of light. My only complaints besides the pain of installation is that there is a section of the inner rings that doesn't seem to be as bright as the rest of the ring; I don't know if this has to do with the way I installed, I just put the light in the flat part up then twisted them to lock in place. Also when the lights turn off they flicker, I don't know if they are supposed to do that or if mine are defective. Overall once you get them installed they are nice and are definitely better then the halogen. I can post some pictures later if anyone wants to see them or the flicker that I'm talking about.
