Try auto crossing with an all-season and tell me how it goes.

Even mag racing is more scientific than that response.
Do you have first hand experience or are you just guessing? Third of all, OP isn't going to be racing, so even if that is the case; what difference does it make? |

I like my Nitto Invo and Michelin PSS I have. They're both great.
I've also owned Continental DWS, they are runner up for the value too.

? Those are SUBJECTIVE average "ratings" from customer reviews. It's not test data, or anything even remotely close to it.

And from a purely performance/$$$ standpoint...
The HTRZ III is so dirty cheap now, it might take the top spot.

Yokohama S.Drives are pretty cheap and seem to fit most of the OP requirements. They grip well in wet and dry, have a nice crisp turn in, and communicate well at the limit, and even felt pretty good in cold weather as long as it wasn't frosty. Yoko says they work below freezing, not sure if I buy that entirely... but fine in that transition period before it's time to mount the snow tires.
I found they got a little noisy near the end of life, though. |

I can tell you from first hand experience even pilot super sports aren't that good at autox, they overheat by the end of the run and loose a ton of grip compared to tires like ZII star specs, RE11, RE71R, basically any tire that is considered an "extreme summer tire". Now imagine this with an all-season. I don't know why you're arguing, all seasons are just okay at everything. And I stand by my original statement, conti dw are the best value summer tires. $600 for a set of 225/255/18 and provide plenty of grip that most drivers will be fine with. OP will be completely fine with these, as he is not 'racing'.

I've had my V12 Evo2 tires installed for two weeks now. I've been pleased with them overall, but one thing I've noticed about V12s from my last car is when they're at the edge, they let go. However, it's a linear feel, so you know when you're getting close to the edge. For daily driving though, I'd recommend the V12 Evo2 in a heartbeat.
The price difference between V12 Evo2 and the Conti DW's was maybe $100. |

For what it's worth, Michelin super sports are the only summer tire with any tread warranty that I know of. 30k for square and 15k for staggered. I had v12s, they were good, just picked up PSS and really like them. There is a brand new set for sale on here for $650 with 0 miles. Killer deal

Not really. The ratings are compared to tires in their class. Not from class to class. They don't translate. The continental dw if you have to go cheap. The pss will save you money in the long run because they last twice as long.

I can also attest to the Hankook V12 being a crap tire. The dry grip is decent, but they are dangerous in wet. My tires aren't worn, and I frequently lose traction and feel unstable on highways. I hate them. I just bought a set of PSS to replace them.
As far as "value" goes, I'd recommend the Brisgestone S-04. It's not exactly cheap, but it truly is a notch or so below the PSS for a good price. I was very torn between the two when I was shopping. But ultimately decided that the tread wear warranty, softer sidewalls, and weight were more important to me. But, by all accounts, it is an exceptionally good tire.

The sumitomo HTRZ-3 are reat value tires. I used them on all my cars. There are better tires for grip but they will cost a lot more and aren't needed for daily driving. Last edited by e46mpwr; 04-03-2016 at 11:31 AM.. Reason: Add context |

The pss is less expensive than the tire it replaced. A good tire really makes the car much more enjoyable.
The DW gets noisy after 8-10k miles and I didn't like the tire much at all. We put a set of Pole Position S04 on my fathers corvette, and that is a very nice tire that is quiet, plenty of grip, good in t he rain and a good $$ less than the PSS. Only downfall is the extra weight.

Hm, yea I speed want a tire withstand is decent in the rain or wet.
Summer tires usually have better wet ratings than all season, but I guess not all of them. Definitely something I need in a tire is usable and not 'dangerous' in the rain

Holy shit almost every post is still mentioning pss and just arguing and not giving any relevant help. Anyways, check out Zenna Argus UHP, I have them and they are surprisingly good for the price.

What about Nokian zLine or the regular Nokian Line series? I still have winter tires on mine and im looking for a switch. The Nokian Line tires are going to cost about $600.
