That is true if you ask BMW technician. Do you know WHY they recommend it? It's because BMW is still responsible for maintaining warranty and are held accountable by existing federal emissions standards. They are concerned that mixing different injectors in the same bank *might* change the emissions output of our engines during cold starts.

My logic has nothing to do with what a BMW technician was thinking or suggesting.

It's on the simple notation that if 1 or 2 injectors are going bad then there is a strong likelihood that the others are going bad in the near future. It also reduces the potential risk of having an old weak injector in there that might be running leaner compared to the other cylinders.

If 1 is on a budget and you don't care about having optimal performance, efficiency and fueling then yea replace 1.

In my case I had 2 bad injectors. I initially only replaced 1 and the result actually was worse. I then tried replacing just 2 and it seemed to get better.

After playing games with injectors and wasting time, I ended up replacing all 6 and the car improved in all aspects.

This situation may not be the norm. Everyone's situation will be different.

Just like when you re-build an engine that only has 1 cylinder blown, do you just replace that 1 cylinder? Or should you replace all cylinders so they are equal. I prefer the latter method assuming the parts are worn from age.

Do you even believe some of the words that are coming out of your mouth?

Yes, situations will be different, and being in fleet maintenance I see this when only one cylinder go out, in order of frequency:
1)repair that particular cylinder
2)used engine
3)rebuild
4)crate engine
