For example, if you have 4 gallons of E10 in the tank and you want E50, with a 16 gallon tank you need to put in 8.53 gallons of E85:

Holy F ok this seems so complicated.

Ok the place that has E85 actuually told me irght now it's at E87.

OK so just to confirm, a tune needing E30 ethanol fuel is NOT 30% E85 and 70% normal fuel.

It is just to have the fuel tank containing 30% ethanol and 70% normal fuel correct?

Someone let me know of an app that actually lets you input the ethanol content in the e85 you're mixing as well as the gas (10% is what they say) you're mixing. Most of these basic apps I've come across calculates it like most people on this thread think - E30 = 30% e85 70% pump gas.

Also how well will fuel mix in the tank if you put ethanol not first or first?

Is that something to worry about?

Always put the smaller amount of fuel in first to promote better mixing.

In your case the ethanol. Above 50% I'd do gas first

It does if you fill it out properly and accurately. Actually it's the best one I've seen recently.

Really makes mixing idiot proof, I can't wait to get mine.

Also great if you get weak e85 randomly and youre under target blend. Also nice that you don't have to worry about map switching at all after that.

Yep, just pulled my car out of storage a couple weeks ago. Had straight 93 Octane in it show about 10% Ethanol. After running that tank low, put about 6 or 7 gallons of E85 in and filled the rest with 93 and I am sitting at 38% Ethanol now. On next fill up I will add just a little more e85 until I get to around the E50 mark, maybe E60.

You can feel the increase in boost.

Definitely seems like a pretty neat thing. Don't know if it's worth though for me since I'll only be getting E85 maybe 4 times this summer.

I wanted to buy a Ethanol test tube to test at the pump but man it's like 40$ shipped to Canada.

Trust. After you put some ethanol in tank, you'll be finding every reason to keep it in there.

The power difference is very real. Custom mapping will be even more severe, OTS maps alone are convincing enough.

So any way to know for sure how much gas in the tank?

Also, if I were to run normal gas but pre-mix my mix, is there an easy to to empty/pump out gas out the tank?

I thinking lifting up the back seat and opening the fuel pump ring and just pump/transfer gas out from there.

Dude I know but E85 is not common at all in Canada. The closest place I found E85 at the pump is 40 mins to go. 40 mins back. Plus it's 2$ per liter.

And I live in a major urban area to give you an idea, E85 was scrapped in Canada I think, I recall it existed before when I was a kid.

If I were to run something everyday I think meth injection would be better here. But I'm to scared of somehow hydrolocking or something bad happens so best I would do on DD would be probably stage2+.

Now I wonder if I should switch to MHD V8 maps or V7...

I take notes on how much I fill up with on any given position on the dash whenever I fill up, that way I know how many gallons i'll have to play with when I blend and how much ill need of each.

For example; as soon as my gas light comes on, it takes 13.7 gallons for me. So if I am aiming for a E40 blend, with the 2.2 gallons left in the tank, I know I need about 6.5 gallons of ethanol and the rest gas.

That figure changes slightly if I already have E40 blend in the tank, but the idea is the same. I just subtract the current mix amount out(if gas light is on, i remove the remaining 2.2gals of e40 from my equation) and plan a blend of strictly what I am adding.

This is based off of a full quality 85% ethanol and 10% pump gas availability. But thats normally what my local stuff tests at. So I just fill up and watch the fuel trims for irregularities. I like to wait about 20 miles and do a log so it has time to mix and I can get an idea for the quality that way also.

Another option for you is to just install an Ethanol sensor that has Bluetooth or Wifi and have an app on your phone tell you how much Ethanol is in the car.
