I've read that Carbotech CT918 and CT1170 fit our cars but I've not seen any places in the UK stocking them. Reading the reviews it seems that the front pads (ct918) don't cover the same area of the disc of the standard pad so you may have to swap discs if you change pads.
If I cant find them then I'm going to import some cool carbon or Hawk pads from the US Last edited by idnan; 01-12-2012 at 01:02 PM.. |

335 i & d are still relatively new and 'high end' for modding.
Combine that with smallish volumes (over whole 3 seriies volumes) and you have very low sales values for after market pads. Not suprising so few do any. Give it a year or two when our cars get well below £10 grand and the modding numbers will pick up and so will aftermarket options. |

We used XP10 and it was fantastic on track and okay on road but a little squeeky cold. UK can waterjet ANY backplate, they buy pucks of friction material from the parent in USA, bond them together and machine to size. If there is a demand, then they will put them on stock. If not already a/v they can make them. Cost is high, like Pagid, but same type or result. Carbotech EU are very helpful, just call them or send old pads and tell them oem thickness. Ian is the sales director, a frequent visitor to MLR forum and does a bit of racing too. He knows whats what. Steve

Cheers Steve for the information. I emailed Ian and he was very helpful and has given me the prices for the pads which I will be getting in a month or so. The 335i pads are off the shelf although he said he can apply material to any backing plates which is good to know.
He told me that they don't come with a groove in for the wear sensor although they can do it if requested. IMO the wear sensors are useless and as Ian said, a visual inspection is far more accurate. I'll probably get some for my e36 track car next time as I've just bought some EBC bluestuff pads. It's my first time so I think it's better to ruin a cheaper set learning the ropes. |
