I've looked, but it didn't look promising. I think that BMW and any other performance vehicle [I]would[I] make the engine bay design/layout differently if it weren't for the 'convenient' laws.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all auto manufacturers are by law forced to produce cars that can be maintained by the 'average' owner without extensive knowledge or tools (So every car owner is capable of replacing light bulbs and air filters, etc) Quote:

i appreciate the effort
but it seems you are taking a pressurized system and tossing in a variable... would be interested to see the dyno/log results though to confirm one way or another props for the effort

Mr. 5 what is that part that you have on the radiator hose to get your reading, and where did you get it?

really creative .. waiting to see some numbers. Mr.5 you should write your design down on a paper with all the photos of the design and mail it back to yourself, in case someone stole your brilliant design. ^.^ or maybe get a patent .

Great work, Mr. 5 !
To be honest, I was thinking about doing this too, I was looking for a place in the airbox to dig a hole The Dinan intake does not fit if having the Power Kit installed, so the only way is to use some flexible tubing like this which runs through the plumbing of the extra water radiator of the PK. In my opinion, in order for the intake to maintain its "pressurized" state the extra filter needs to be placed behind a scoop that somehow forces air into it. Because otherwise at speed the pressurized air from the airbox may in fact escape through the extra filter because there is not enough pressure at that end. A flap could be used to let the air flow only one way. Anyway, I hope a company picks up this idea of an intake and releases a kit...

Stett unnecessarily eliminates the stock air box and the stock airflow which is of major importance in Dinan-type intakes. It's not the same thing.

I am just saying that if you want a CAI just get the STETT. I have tested it to above a 150 rwhp delta over stock on 8 consecutive runs with no cool down. I didn't lose any power on the dyno and IATs average 10-20F below ambient. It works. |

Stett could just modify their intake to enter the stock airbox instead of entering the turbo inlet ducts. I would buy it if they did that
