That is the correct price (£300ish). It has gone up recently, probably when it got popular thanks to this forum!

Yes, BMW UK have put their prices up, probably to reflect a) the change in exchange rate and b) the change in VAT.
£330 isn't the worst price because the retail prices are closer to approximately £360 (checked yesterday). |

I have the Apline kit, and am very happy with it.
However, if it's an easy job, I wouldn't mind changing the subs. Am I right in saying that there are none that are direct replacements, and most will need a small amount of adaption? To make it worth my while I'd want to do it my self (sound good enough as it is so not willing to pay loads for labour) but I'm a total NUMPTY when it comes to DIY so need a plug an play!!

Picked up the kit today from Stratstones in Derby and paid £292 which isn't too bad I guess but started to fit it and one of the crossovers weren't working so only have the replacements in the passenger side until the dealer gets back to me, defo notice the difference even without powering the amp yet!
Also I brought some 8" Pioneer shallow subs, TS-SW841 I think and I was shocked that there was no sound coming from the orignal under seat subs, anyone else find this with theirs? I've noticed that the Pioneers don't slot straight in so has anyone got any advice in this area, would be much appreciated! |

It makes absolutely no difference with any of Alpines Class D amps which subs you add, well not to volume anyway, as they output exactly the same power with a 2 or 4 ohm load.
The one thing with the 4ohm version is the amp runs considerably cooler though, shouldn't be a problem with the 2ohm, but there are no positives to running a 2ohm version as there are with most amps. |

The OP posted this two and a half years ago and I don't think he's around to answer but V88TAC, there is no import tax, it's a European supplied item bought from BMW dealers. Try a PM to Anneka for her best discounted price for the kit in supply only mode.
r_kvam: If you have the standard sound system then the Alpine upgrade is one of the easiest ways to vastly improve your sound set-up. With regard to the SWS subs, I can see no reason why it shouldn't. However, you still need an adaptor plate to fit them underfloor and the stock sub-woofers are quite good once they have an amplifier to drive them. Take a browse through the Alpine upgrade sticky thread and you should find some posts that will answer your questions. |
