Sorry to hear of your turbo problem. What year is your car and do you know when they changed from foam breather filter? My car is a 2007 and I pulled the breather off to check it the other day but could not find any foam filter...

As is said above if your going to have to get the turbo done anyway you may as well keep the car for a while longer and get some use out of it. Did you get over your MPG issues in the end? Last I read you were going to get the injectors looked at...

Hi bud,

Ours is an early 2005'er.....I think November. I never pulled the breather as I assumed it was the newer model. Ill soon know as its getting pulled.

We will just have to keep the car for a while mate if we are going to spend this money. While the turbo is being done I will be pulling the injectors too to get flow tested and replaced if necessary.

Never got over the economy issues, returning a constant 32-3 mpg.

FYI, ragging the french fanny off the Clio I get 31.

Shitballs..

Get an Indy to repair it - I have seen threads where you can get an reconditioned turbo for a reasonjable price.

Give the car a good valet - then think about it. When you see it repaired and clean, you may wish to keep it!!

Otherwise, this seems to heve caused you no end of problems - just sell it and move on. It will fetch a decent price trade-in.

Yes, a recon turbo is about 400...that is what I am having to do. Ill do the work myself....f@ck paying some monkey to do it.

The car never needs a valet, I ALWAYS keep it mint.

And no, I dont think the 6-6500 I was offered at 3 different dealerships today was a "decent" trade price.

I remember the E46's had problems with their turbo's, (as the turbo went on my 2001/51 320d back in ~2004), but I would have thought the problem got fixed on the E9x.
Obviously not

Sorry to hear of the problem with your turbo jinjur

I'd just like to point out that a remap on a 320D will have no effect on the turbo life, its simply dumping in extra fuel with no increase in boost pressure.
Extended oil change intervals are to blame.

It they have offered you £6.5k, maybe you can get them to go higher.

Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition: £6920
Average condition: £6310
Below average condition: £5620

These are the Network Q prices for a 2005 320d touring.

Suppose that's the rough value.

I'd say 32 mpg is pretty crap for a 320d and hints of something being very wrong unless you spend all day in traffic.

Regarding the Clio

How many miles?
I've missed that in the thread if its there...
But surely, a remap itself, won't make any difference to a turbo?

Jinjar can understand your a bit peeved off but they prices for a turbo seem pretty reasonable?
I've just bought a 2006 plate e91 320d msport and to be honest i realised if i went for the motor, I'd be forking out more for parts if the car goes wrong. A few years back i blew a turbo on a laguna and it cost 900 quid to replace.
As for your fuel consumption i get about 550 to a full tank.....surely that's brilliant for the motor? What figure do u get brim to brim? My last car was a 150bhp seat Leon fr 1.9tdi- same size of fuel tank 450 miles.
Only had the car a week and i reckon its excellent value for money for the quality. Don't go near a Nissan jeep thing
....my neighbours got one and they're balls.

Sorry to read about the turbo OP.

Any car with a turbo can have this kind of problem. I try and mitigate it with mine by changing the oil twice as often as BMW say you should and allowing the turbo to warm down before turning the car off if I've been "making progress". Usually I'll drive off boost for the last 2-3 miles of any journey so that the need to sit on the drive with the car idling is negated.

My 330d has done 96k now and feels/sounds fine. If the turbo goes, I'll just consider it wear and tear and get it fixed. I definitely wouldn't consider trading it in for a Nissan!

Quite hard to drive a turdo denz off boost though mate. njust best to take it easy as you say but nigh on impossible to drive off-boost completely.

Sit for 5-10 secs also is a good bet eh mate.

True mate. If i need to let the turbo spool down, I usually wait 2-3 minutes with it idling. Just don't want the turbo cooking the oil too much!
