We just saw what 230+mph and open wheeled cars can do last week. Per square mile, there is not a higher populated area, there are 5 MAJOR airports within an hour, 3 of them international. Its really the perfect area. |

what i feel about street circuits are just a mere display of the cars on the street. and they pick the course not because of the track layout or the challenges, but the skyline behind where will be a great camera shots for the helicopters and bernie himself... sorry i'm no red neck, i cannot stand cars running on ovals for many laps...unless i'm having insomnia and cannot sleep....

Depends on different years. But Monaco is a damn side more history and luxury than Singapore and Valencia.
Its no standard, Monaco is just much more special than the modern street racing we have in Singapore and Valencia, big run off area with grand stands miles away. Not like Monaco where you can have apartments right next to the track. I suggest you re-watch Valencia races if you can stay up at all. Its hardly exciting at all.

So in your opinion, where should a "second american grand prix" be hosted, that is going to be on the same level fiscally, but more "exciting" then?
F1 is still a business at the end of the day. |

Not even DRS, KERS, and new high degradation Pirelli tires can help excite the Valencia track. If anything, the reason F1 will be street track at New Jersey is not about excitement of the race, its the view and the hosting fee the organizers can pay Bernie and FOM at the end of the day.

^well that was an abysmal excuse for reporting.

I wouldnt mind a second GP in the US, specially in NJ. I have tons of family and friends to crash w/ but I would have a major problem w/ another boring street circuit
Valencia and Singapore are extremely boring tracks, not only to watch but to race also. Singapore has been borderline acceptable cause of all the shit that has happened in the past, similar w/ Valencia. Unless something crazy happens, we forget those races even took place. You cant compare these to Monaco though. Monaco has so much history its ridiculous and the track is amazing to drive, its one of my fav tracks in F1 2010/11. Maybe because I grew up watching Senna tear it up through there but its one of my fav tracks. If they can pull off an exciting street circuit, then by all means |

Let's say for S&G that IS the layout, I think it'd be best counter-clockwise. At first shot, I didn't think this would be a good track design but after much thought it looks like it could be really challenging and not boring. Bear with me through the following HYPOTHETICAL scenario:
Start/Finish is up top, just after that left hairpin, let's say right there at 'Liberty Skyline'. That would be the best pit straight IMO into a nice, fast looking right hander into a tight 90-left. Nice, fast, sweeping run into the chicane off JFK into a few 90's. Coming out of the righty at 'Port Imperial' DRS detection around the 'NY Waterway' with DRS activation after the right, in front of Ben and Jerry's there. High speed down into a super right (like turn 14 at China). Pit entrance is at the 'Y' in '...Defino WaY' Honestly just bored at work and looking forward to India. Need my F1 fix after korea! lol

Interesting. Autoweek is reporting that 'The race is expected to be paired with the Canadian GP and a yet-to-be-announced Mexican GP.'
I'd actually be more excited about the Mexico City GP if they'd bring the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez back for F1. |
