Ring them as I was told on the phone and I believed that. There is nothing mentioned on their website except 3 years warranty on the box.

I was told that they have insurance to cover any engine damage which may happen as a result of DTUK box. I was also told that since its TUV approved, they never had any engine problem so far.

No. They are based on the engines and their horsepower.

For example, there will be a different box for 177BHP version of N47 compared to 184 BHP version. Boxes may be same but software is different and part number printed on the box is different.

Does your f10 have the N47 184? That's the same engine my 2012 e92 has. So would they use the same box?

At the moment I'm happy with the performace on its current settings, but I requested what settings for max performance, which they emailed me, I'll give that a go in a few weeks after I see what the current sets mpg is like.

Reading through there website, i think the box increases common rail pressure not increases fuelling. Increase the pressure that the fuel is injected in to the pistons and it will give you a leaner burn, this is what increases bhp or reduces mpg

tuning boxes have come a long since the resistor style boxes that i had on my old golf 2.0 tdi. They use digital processors to alter the signal from the ecu
I am sure that Racechip is very good alternate especially when you consider the price.

Just out of interest, have you noticed black smoke?

I have not noticed any difference but then these days its dark and hard to notice smoke coming out of your tail pipes.
I take it that my question was intentionally missed?
As there is black smoke???

Sorry Makkan, didn't spot that one. I've not noticed any black smoke, but it is dark when I start and finish work this time of year, plus I have tailor made blinds in the back which makes it hard to tell in the day as well lol.

No smoke on tick over the other last week end when I was scrapping the ice off. Going to give the tips a good clean and keep an eye on them to see any build up. Have you noticed any on your tips?

Not yet, but in the same boat.
Since its dark these days so hard to notice.
I just want to find out which box is better and happy to change if needed.
I must say that it has made massive difference to 520D.
Previously I wanted to drive the car in sport mode but now it drives excellent in normal mode and a bit of beast on sport mode.
Also, it encourages you to do illegal speeds now as it goes to three digit speed easily.

Dont think there will be much if any difference in the boxes. RaceChip do an ultimate box, which also changes boast pressure. Thats about £380 though

Not disappointed on 2 litre diesel so cannot see that you will be disappointed.

Well I bought a RaceChip Pro for my 2010 E92 330D yesterday. I've been thinking about it for a while now but with Greece's new government causing the Euro to drop it works out at about £186 which I think is pretty good and worth a go. If I don't like it I can always stick it on fleabay.

I've had my DTUK TUNING box on for 5days now, wow WHAT a difference it makes to my 330 D, ot jjust makes it so much nicer to drive. ...pottering around/ town is the same maybe the the throttle is a little quicker but fairly similar, but put your foot down in 3rd and 4th and its off it really does feel a lot quicker. ..

Mines set @ map3 +20% and im loving it....

Easily fitted and wow what a difference. The 330D isn't a slow car in the first place but it's just amazing now. I'll try and do some 50-70 times with and without to compare.

I've got the Racechip Pro on about +23% and have just used the Torque app which showed 40-60 is now 2.2s and 60-80 is 3.2s. Anyone any idea how that compares with the standard times? I suppose I could disconnect it but .... I can't be bothered!

I recently fitted a tdi-tuning box to my 320d

And i also agree makes one massive difference. I picked the box up 2nd hand for £100.
My 320d has this thing they call torque now and no extra smoke which is a bonus

Obviously a remap is better but for the price and the resale / removability i am happy

There isn't TUV approval for the DTUK box and neither do they offer a guarantee for your engine. If the engine lets go you are on your own.

The TUV approval they mention is for the box that is built in Germany and shows only modest gains. They are "developing" the box without the benefit of a RR, without warranty and without TUV approval.

The RaceChip box is TUV approved in Germany. As for modest gains, I've not had it on a RnR. I can say that my butt dyno has noticed a significent gain

There latest box claims 239 bhp. The RaceChip ultimate claims 241 bhp
