Yes, everyone above is correct. The old DMFW has that pilot shaft in it to mate into the pilot bearing on the transmission shaft. You need to press the center short shaft sticking out of that setup out, and then press it into the center hole of the SMFW.

Why does SPEC not have that pin pressed in when they manufacture it? kinda of a pita to have to go buy a press in the middle of the install.

Hmm that's a question for Spec but any shop would have a press on hand and if your doing it at home I'm sure a local shop would happily do it for a $20.

I did it on a Sunday and the 3 shops we found with a press, wouldn't touch it. So I bought a 20 ton from Harbor freight lol

I was running into the same problem pressing poly mounts into my control arms. No one with a press wanted to touch it, so I bought the 20 ton press from harbor freight as well. Perhaps a liability issue or something?

How is that modified tune?
Some reason the OTS E30 map feels like it has more low-end than my wedge/bq tune....

The tune is great, but I did spend almost 100 revisions of it fine tuning the PID for my self. Many things on it are changed. Sense I'm at altitude I re-scaled the WGDC base table, as well as the P and I tables and then poked them until I got what I wanted. Several other tables I also re-scaled and then modified as well.
After all that it works great. My only complaint is that even with a 3.0 boost multiplier the car still only targets around 20 PSI at this altitude, when in reality to match many other people who target 20 PSI at sea level it should be targeting 22 PSI (which it can because at this altitude the TMAP doesnt max out until 23 or so PSI).

That's when you pay cash and say just do it. No paper trail. LOL

I think you can rent a press from autozone and parts stores like that. |

I also went with Spec3+ and agree with all the points you made except ones relating to install since I don’t work on cars anymore.
The chatter was so low I was excited at first. And yes now it’s fairly loud like it I’m going through a drive thru. But, as long as I don’t hear t in the car... I’m still having to push my clutch almost all the way to the floor, just like when I had the stock one. Kinda disappointed in that. Was hoping it was the Work stocker. Yea it’s very grabby and that’s great. I also have some difficultly in first from a stop in everyday driving if rpm < 1000 but that’s no buggy eitherits nice knowing I have the strongest clutch out there since I’m putting down around 550 now. |
